The dramatic and hotly anticipated conclusion to Alexis Deacon's original Geis series, featuring new branding and a format designed to sit alongside Curse of the Chosen Volume 1. As the great chief matriarch lay dying, she gave one final decree: Upon her death there would be a contest. Having no heir of her own blood she called on the Gods. Let fate decide the one truly worthy to rule in her place. The rich, the strong, the wise, the powerful; many put forward their names in hope of being chosen. But when the night came... only fifty souls alone were chosen. Read the Holy Bible like a novel, not like a textbook! This version of the Holy Bible capitalizes on a new presentation style that has become more popular over the last few years, and one that is closer to the original version than most current ones. We've dispensed with chapter and verse numbers (they weren't added until the 1200s and 1500s, respectively), and we've put books that were split apart because they wouldn't fit on a single scroll (e.g., Ezra and Nehemiah) back into single books. We've also rearranged some of the books so they follow a more logical timeline and progression. We keep books with the same audience or author, or same theme or timeline, together. This makes it more cohesive for you to read. We've used the World English Bible, a readable translation that allows you to traverse the whole of God's word in thoroughly modern language. We hope you enjoy reading this new version of the Holy Bible, and may Yahweh bless you!

Ricciardi has visions. He sees and hears the final seconds in the lives of victims of violent deaths. It is both a gift and a curse. It has helped him become one of the most acute and successful homicide detectives in the Naples police force. But all that horror and suffering has hollowed him out emotionally. He drinks and doesn't sleep. Other than his loyal partner Brigadier Maione he has no friends. Naples, 1931. In a working class apartment in the Sanita' neighborhood an elderly woman by the name of Carmela Calise has been beaten to death. When Ricciardi and Maione arrive at the scene they start asking the neighbors questions. No one wants to talk but slowly a few interesting facts slip out. Carmela Calise was moonlighting as a fortuneteller and moneylender. In her decrepit apartment she would receive clients, among them some of the city's rich and powerful, predicting their futures in such a way as to manipulate and deceive. If economic ruin lurked in their futures, Calise was happy to help. For a price, of course. She had many enemies, those indebted to her, manipulated by her lies, disappointed by her prophesies or destroyed by her machinations. Murder suspects in this atmospheric thriller abound and Commissario Ricciardi, one of the most original and intriguing investigators in contemporary crime fiction, will have his work cut out for him.

Sigmund Mowinckel is widely recognized as one of the leading forces in Psalms research during the twentieth century. Indeed, the culmination of Mowinckel’s thought and work, The Psalms in Israel’s Worship, continues to play a significant role in Psalms scholarship today. Not as well known are the seminal studies that prepared the ground for Mowinckel’s later work, the six Psalmenstudien that are translated here into English for the first time. In these studies Mowinckel explores with care and in detail such topics as: “'Awen and the Psalms of Individual Lament”; “YHWH’s Enthronement Festival and the Origin of Eschatology”; “Cultic Prophecy and Prophetic Psalms”; “The Technical Terms in the Psalm Superscriptions”; “Blessing and Curse in Israel’s Cult and Psalmody”; and “The Psalmists.” Anyone interested in Psalms study, especially the possible role of the New Year’s enthronement festival within Israel’s cult and its relation to the Psalter, will find much to consider in these classic works.

Further, mention has been made of the devotional acts to be performed at each shrine. The contents of the volumes include the following: volume one (Medina) includes the pilgrimage prayers devoted to the Noble Prophet (SAW), Fatimat al-Zahra’ (SA), the Imams (AS) and saints buried at the Baqi‘ Cemetery, and the martyrs of the Uhud Battle; vol. 2: the prayers devoted to the Commander of the Faithful, Imam ‘Ali (AS; Najaf) and those said at the Mosque of Kufa; vol. 3: those devoted to Imam al-Íusayn (AS) and Hadrat Abu al-Fadl al-‘Abbas (as) and other martyrs buried in Karbala’; vol. 4: those devoted to the Kazimayn, i.e. Imam Musa (AS) and Imam Muhammad Taqi (AS), and the ‘Askariyayn, i.e. Imam ‘Ali al-Naqi (AS) and Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (AS), and those of Imam al-Mahdi, the Twelfth Imam (AS; Samarra’ and Kazimayn); vol. 5: those devoted to Imam al-Rida (AS; Mashhad); vol. 6: Ziyarat al-Jami‘a, i.e. general prayers and also those devoted to the descendants of the Imams, e.g. Hadrat Ma‘suma (AS).
