Download Resolving Your Tax Issues Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
No one wants to have tax issues. However, if you do find yourself needing assistance with Canadian tax problems, Resolving Your Tax Issues details the processes and strategies you can use to resolve issues concerning income tax, GST/HST, and payroll taxes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). As there are a growing number of tax cases where taxpayers represent themselves (or are represented by their accountants), Hu has written the book he needed when he found himself in the same situation. Providing information to help you resolve your CRA tax issues and achieve your goals at each stage of the tax dispute process, this book addresses three key themes: 1. Tax dispute resolution processes and strategies for taxpayers 2. The “rules of the game” for tax dispute resolution 3. Commonly disputed tax issues and their legal tests The tax issue resolution processes discussed throughout Resolving Your Tax Issues are divided into two categories: non-dispute processes (filing a return, changing a return, Taxpayer Relief Provisions, and the Voluntary Disclosure Program) and dispute processes (audit, objection, and appeal). Hu has diligently selected the most useful and relevant information, adding meticulous case studies, thorough analysis, and detailed strategies to inspire readers, including: • Taxpayers wanting to resolve their own tax issues and represent themselves in the tax dispute process • Accountants intending to represent their clients in resolving their tax issues • Lawyers planning to enter taxation practice • Consultants, educators, students, and other professionals with an interest in taxation who are intending to broaden their knowledge

Download Jihadism, Foreign Fighters and Radicalization in the EU Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Jihadism, Foreign Fighters and Radicalization in the EU addresses the organizational and strategic changes in terrorism in Europe as a result of urban jihadism and the influx of foreign fighters of European nationality or residence. Examining the different types of responses to the treatment of radicalization and its consequences in the recruitment of young urban fighters and jihadists, this book offers a framework for understanding the process of violent radicalization. It critically analyses political and legal responses that have taken place within the European framework, whilst also examining a series of functional responses from social and behavioural psychology. This book then goes on to develop an explanatory model from an economic standpoint, exploring the need to adapt the fight against the financing of terrorism to the changes in the sources of financing jihadist cells and foreign fighters. Furthermore, the volume draws on experience from the prison sector to assess the process of radicalization and the possibilities of intervention. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this book will be of great interest to students of terrorism and counter-terrorism, radicalization, European politics, radical Islam and security studies.

Download Countering Violent Extremism Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book presents original research on gender and the power dynamics of diverse forms of violent extremism, and efforts to counter them. Based on focus group and interview research with some 250 participants in Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands and UK in 2015 and 2016, it offers insights from communities affected by radicalisation and violent extremism. It introduces the concept of gendered radicalisation, exploring how the multiple factors of paths to violent extremist groups – social, local, individual and global – can differ for both men and women, and why. The book also offers a critical analysis of gender and terrorism; a summary of current policy in the five countries of study and some of the core gendered assumptions prevalent in interventions to prevent violent extremism; a comparison of Jihadi extremism and the far right; and a chapter of recommendations. This book is of use to academics, policy-makers, students and the general reader interested in better understanding a phenomenon defining our times.

Download Jihadist Terror Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The past 18 months have seen a radical increase in incidents of jihadist terrorism within the United Kingdom – from the Manchester Arena attack, to the Houses of Parliament, to London Bridge. As a result, there are renewed calls for a high-level national conversation about the causes of, and the responses to, this particular terrorist problem. This book identifies policy and research gaps from an evidence-based perspective – it analyses what we know, what we don't know and what we need to know in relation to understanding and countering the jihadist terrorist threat. It provides readers with a synthesis of the knowledge and evidence that exists on each of the key topic areas, representing a distinctive and valuable resource for policymakers, academics and students. The contributors to the volume are leading international and national experts, from both the scholarly and policy-making communities, who are ideally placed to comment on the question of jihadist terrorism and the future of the threat in the UK.

Download Advances in Carbon Management Technologies Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Volume 2 of Advances in Carbon Management Technologies has 21 chapters. It presents the introductory chapter again, for framing the challenges that confront the proposed solutions discussed in this volume. Section 4 presents various ways biomass and biomass wastes can be manipulated to provide a low-carbon footprint of the generation of power, heat and co-products, and of recovery and reuse of biomass wastes for beneficial purposes. Section 5 provides potential carbon management solutions in urban and manufacturing environments. This section also provides state-of the-art of battery technologies for the transportation sector. The chapters in section 6 deals with electricity and the grid, and how decarbonization can be practiced in the electricity sector. The overall topic of advances in carbon management is too broad to be covered in a book of this size. It was not intended to cover every possible aspect that is relevant to the topic. Attempts were made, however, to highlight the most important issues of decarbonization from technological viewpoints. Over the years carbon intensity of products and processes has decreased, but the proportion of energy derived from fossil fuels has been stubornly stuck at about 80%. This has occurred despite very rapid development of renewable fuels, because at the same time the use of fossil fuels has also increased. Thus, the challenges are truly daunting. It is hoped that the technology choices provided here will show the myriad ways that solutions will evolve. While policy decisions are the driving forces for technology development, the book was not designed to cover policy solutions.
