Her favorite color was black. She dressed in black jeans and black blouses, and wore a strange black veil cape that seemed to swirl a shadow mist behind her as she passed. Her form was never still; even when she rested, the darkness swam around her. She had a dangerous need to fl aunt herself in front of the cameras to draw attention to herself, though her face was nearly always hidden behind the fluttering black veil. She wore black fingerless gloves and black eye shadow and a spider ring. Her visible body was covered in tattoos and piercings. The cameras called her Pin Cushion, and she sneered at them. The cameras called her Goth Girl, and she sneered at them. She was attractive, and her face and expressions fascinated men. But she made herself too scary and bitchy to find some stupid romance. She was not attracted to men or women; she was attracted to no one. She seemed determined to despise life; and sometimes she got a plummeting sense in her stomach that it was quickly coming to an end. She wanted no human to know her or any part of her lonely and uneventful existence. She wanted no one to know her secret, but those who worked with her suspected: She could read the cameras. Like her veil-cape, Cassandra fl owed through life in a dark mist. She had enrolled at San Diego State, but the superficial syrup of academia had soon turned her off. It was a place where professors taught knowing they were in the cameras. Where classmates laughed at her and chittered in the eyes of the cameras. She lived in an efficiency apartment just off El Cajon Boulevard, and most of her money went to the rent. She ate simple and cheap Paleofood: raw fruits and vegetables, unsalted mixed nuts. She did not want to, nor could she use her kitchen. She ate tuna out of the can after straining it. One day she talked about the curse; she didnt know why.

In his 1974 classic, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, author Robert M. Persig describes a condition he calls “stuckness” – that place where things break down and we are at our wits’ end to find solutions. Persig encourages us to get unstuck: moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar through an “inquiry of values” that leads us to think about and resolve the problems we are facing. Help has arrived. For decades, Sandy Gallagher, co-founder of Proctor Gallagher Institute has helped millions achieve more successful professional and personal lives. While the principles Gallagher teaches are timeless, the moment has come to apply them to a world of stuckness. Daisy Mays Lazy, Crazy Days is an autobiography, written by me, a beautiful tuxedo cat. Well, actually I am unable to write in people words, so I decided that I would tell my life story to a human author named A-Jay. He is one of the very few humans who understands cat language and was able to translate into people language whatever I dictated to him. The concept of a cat telling her story is unique, and children of all ages from early elementary school age to adults should enjoy hearing me tell about my habits, my animal friends, my adoptive parent, Lu-Jo, my likes and dislikes, and how I spend my days in my home, which I refer to as a palace. I also show off my sense of humor whenever I can in this book. For example, I said at one point, I hope you find my autobiography interesting with a litter bit of fun. The chapter headings listed in the Contents will give you a good idea as what to expect in this delightfully creative piece of literature, a must for even those who are totally unfamiliar with cats. Daisy May will definitely endear herself to all her readers. So enjoy!

For a nation with a long and proud military tradition, one token stands above all others as a mark of recognition for the ultimate acts of individual feats of arms: the Victoria Cross. Awarded for one reason alone--to mark extreme acts of great heroism by British and Commonwealth servicemen in the face of the enemy--it is unquestionably the hardest club in the world to gain entrance to. Its holders--ordinary soldiers, sailors and airmen--are linked by an uncommon bond of exceptional bravery, displayed often at great personal risk and against impossible odds. The VC has been awarded only thirteen times since the end of the Second World War in 1945. Three of these awards were made to recipients who had paid the ultimate sacrifice while demonstrating gallantry beyond the call of duty. Forged in battle, from the shell-scarred hills of Korea, to the windswept marshland of East Falkland and today's counter-insurgency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, each one of these VCs has a uniquely inspiring tale to tell. This is their incredible story.
