"Marry Me and I Will Take You All Over the World" is best summarized by its sub-title: Quotes and Tidbits from a Life of Love. Many families will recognize their own shenanigans from this book. Since it is written for anyone who can read, I have omitted lots of material that might be considered offensive. Here's one I probably should have retained: The year is 1984; an American colleague is visiting us in Paris to be honored for technical contributions to the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He thanks everybody: "merci beaucoup" (and they say Americans do not speak foreign languages!). He really should have stopped there, though. Instead, he continues in his best French: "I would like to sleep with all of you," (je voudrai .....), when he meant to say "I love you all," (je vous aime.) You'd think the French would be upset, but in fact they whooped and hollered at least my buddy "attempted" their language, and did not just assume that they all speak English. They get a bad rap, the French, for brusqueness ... and rightly so (just kidding, France.) But actually they can be really nice; and Paris is a great cultural and architectural city (oh la la!). So ... that's one of the many I excluded; wait until you get to the ones that made the book. As for the ones that I omitted, well they should fit nicely in my next book: "Wait, Wait, There's More ... The Movie Version."

What is courage and why is it one of the oldest and most universally admired virtues? How is it relevant in the world today, and what contemporary forms does it take? In this insightful and crisply written book, Geoffrey Scarre examines these questions and many more. He begins by defining courage, asking how it differs from fearlessness, recklessness and fortitude, and why people are often more willing to ascribe it to others than to avow it for themselves. He also asks whether courage can serve bad ends as well as good, and whether it can sometimes promote confrontation over compromise and dialogue. On Courage explores the ideas of Aristotle, Aquinas and many later philosophers who have written about courage, as well as drawing on classic and recent examples of courage in politics and fiction, including the German anti-Nazi "White Rose Movement", the modern phenomenon of "whistle-blowing", and Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage.

Men today have locked horns with their toughest issue: reclaiming the full potential of manhood. But in the midst of the excitement -- the meetings, rallies, seminars, and high-fives -- is something vital missing? What gives manhood definition and meaning? In The Silence of Adam, Dr. Larry Crabb and his colleagues, biblical scholar Don Hudson and counselor Al Andrews, offer a fresh look at how God designed men. They draw from neglected biblical data and their own professional experience to help us explore - manhood's lost vision - the problems of masculine community - the power of mentoring relationships -- The Silence of Adam deals thoughtfully and honestly with men's ongoing struggles and exposes the difficulties they have in relationships. It presents the rich calling men have to reveal God in ways uniquely masculine. And it summons them beyond their paralyzing fear of failure to bold risk-taking, action, deep spirituality, and full-hearted living.
