As an author, therapist and artist, Isa L Levy, shares an honest, detailed and thought provoking self-assessment of her life journey. The book is reflective in so many ways which invite the reader to engage more consciously with their own personal journey. Using clear and apt word painting, the words are poetic in that they evoke a reaction of all our senses. The book includes vibrant colour images of Isa's paintings as she comes into her own light, transforming the grey inner world of entrapment into colour. We hear the music Isa has created, we feel the gentle opening up within the lover's garden, and we can even taste the mother's force feeding! This is a remarkable achievement which leads us to a deeper level of engagement with the text..., says a previewer of the book, Frances Sutherland.Isa wants to reveal how in identifying with the inner world of our critical, harsh and judgemental voices, our soul "dies but not quite". She unravels in this creative memoir the evolution of the lost soul, restored back to life. She takes us through her many evolutions of change and transformation: from actor, to artist then onto arts psychotherapist, while facing her own negative demons and feelings of unworthiness. In doing so she retrieves her "lost soul" and polishes the jewel in her crown, which lay hidden in the unplumbed depths of low self-confidence and poor self-esteem, submerged beneath a world of depression and anxiety.

Hector Kipling is a famous artist. But Hector is not as famous as his best friend, Lenny Snook. And as they are standing in the Tate Gallery one afternoon, Hector's life begins to unravel. For a painter, this existential crisis is the place from which great art is born. If the painter happens to be a forty-three-year-old man with a girlfriend away from home, it is the recipe for disaster. Soon it's all Hector can do to keep it together -- between his therapist who shows up drunk at a party and introduces herself to his parents, an irresistible young female poet with a terrifying taste for S&M, and a deranged stalker with an oil-and-canvas-inspired vendetta, just trying to cope is enough to make a man cry. As the events in his life threaten to drive him toward full-blown dementia, Hector finds himself in a bizarre and murderous pursuit of a man threatening to kill him in return, spiraling into a hysterically surreal Hitchcocklike thriller -- the story of how a man can become desperate enough to shoot his way out of a midlife crisis. At turns warm, witty, and joyfully absurd, David Thewlis's wicked comedy marks the debut of a savagely funny and observant literary talent.

When Marcy Gregg awoke from a coma, 13 years had vanished from her memory. She was 30 years old; she thought she was still 17. She didn’t recognize the man who introduced himself as her husband. She stared at pictures of the three children they said were hers, trying desperately to remember them, but her mind was blank. Terrified and confused, Marcy did the only thing she could think of: she faked it. She told the doctors she was starting to remember and bluffed her way through visits from friends and family. Against all odds, it worked: she was released to a home, family, and life she should have known intimately—but seemed to be a stranger’s. How was she going to pull off the biggest acting challenge imaginable—and would her memories ever return? Ghost Boy meets What Alice Forgot in this amazing true story of a woman who lost herself and tried to fight her way back on her own—but who found unexpected beauty in hope, faith, and second chances.

His scarred hands are the gentlest I've ever known. If only life were a fairy tale where Beauty got to keep her Beast... Every morning I wake up and remind myself I am not my past, but beneath my drab clothing hides a secret—proof of the abuse I suffered at the hands of my possessive ex, tattooed on my skin in a lurid reminder of everything I've survived. I'm alone and in hiding, trying to rebuild some semblance of a normal life. I didn't expect healing to come in the form of a rough ex-con whose rage drives him in ways I'll never understand. Ivan's scars are on the inside—a wounded soul like me. But day by day, this gentle giant proves to me that there are second chances in life, and he deserves them as much as I do. And maybe finding each other will finally allow us to pick up our broken pieces and make something beautiful and new... This high-heat romance is an emotional tale of survival and contains strong themes of past domestic/sexual abuse. Please see reviews for details. Abandonment, abortion, verbal abuse, racial and sexual prejudice are just some of the issues covered in this book. These opportunities for growth are painted on this canvas with the hope and intention that others may come out of their closets, no longer having the need to hide any aspect of themselves they may have judged. Writing this book has been a healing journey for me and my hope is that others may also open the doors of their closets and set themselves free. Here are a few lines from one of the poems in this book "Looking Backwards At Your Life.."... "Only you have the power to surrender the mind's chatter. Only you can master the skills of loving yourself. When looking backward at your life, Embrace it and surrender all of life's eternal strife." This book tells the story before the story. Soon after writing "Presence...A Tapestry Of Love Through The Eyes Of The Soul," I realized I hadn't told the story of how I came to be with the love of my life and our first years together. In the beginning of the first book, my husband dies in a plane crash, leaving me three months pregnant and with a three year old son to raise by myself. A tapestry metaphor was used to weave stories and lessons from my life. When writing the second book "Blank Canvas 2013" I used the art of painting as a metaphor to create the rest of the story.

How does a writer approach a novel about a real person? In this new collection of interviews, authors such as Emma Donoghue, David Ebershoff, David Lodge, Colum McCann, Colm Tóibín, and Olga Tokarczuk sit down with literary scholars to discuss the relationship of history, truth, and fiction. Taken together, these conversations clarify how the biographical novel encourages cross-cultural dialogue, promotes new ways of thinking about history, politics, and social justice, and allows us to journey into the interior world of influential and remarkable people.
