Excerpt from Constitution and by-Laws of the Medical Society of the State of New York, 1917 The President, vice-presidents, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer shall be elected by the House of Delegates. At the first election in the District Branch societies hereafter held, the Councilors for the First, Second, Third and Fourth District Branches shall be elected for the term of two years. The Councilors for the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth District Branches shall be elected for one year, and thereafter all Councilors shall be elected for the term of two years by the District Branch of the District in which they reside and shall be the respective Presidents thereof.* Sec. 2. All officers and the elected members of the standing committees shall assume office at the close of the annual meeting of the Society.
