Download Computer 'experiments' on Classical Fluids. Ii. Equilibrium Correlation Functions Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Equilibrium correlation functions for a dense classical fluid are obtained by integrating the equation of motion of a system of 864 particles interacting through a Lennard-Jones potential. The behaviour of the correlation function at large distance, and that of its Fourier transform at large wave number are discussed in detail and shown to be related to the existence of a strong repulsion in the potential. A simple hard sphere model is shown to reproduce very well the Fourier transform of those correlations functions at high density, the only parameter of the model being the diameter a of the hard spheres. Download Complex Dynamics of Glass-Forming Liquids Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Amorphous condensed matter can exhibit complex motions on time scales which extend up to those relevant for the functioning of biomaterials. The book presents the derivation of a microscopic theory for amorphous matter, which exhibits the evolution of such complex motions as a new paradigm of strongly interacting particle systems.e

Download Physical Basis of Cell-Cell Adhesion Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The Present book is aimed at providing a readable account of physical methods and results required to measure cell adhesion and interpret experimental data. Since on the one hand readability seemed a major quality for a book, and on the other hand, the problems posed referred to a wide range of domains of physics, chemistry, and biology, completeness had to sacrificed. Indeed, a whole book would not suffice to quote the relevant literature (and many more authors would be required to have read it). Hence, only a limited number of topics were selected for reliability of methods, availability of enough experimental results to illustrate basic conception or potential use in the future. These were discussed in three sections.

Download Statistical Physics Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The application of statistical methods to physics is essential. This unique book on statistical physics offers an advanced approach with numerous applications to the modern problems students are confronted with. Therefore the text contains more concepts and methods in statistics than the student would need for statistical mechanics alone. Methods from mathematical statistics and stochastics for the analysis of data are discussed as well. The book is divided into two parts, focusing first on the modeling of statistical systems and then on the analysis of these systems. Problems with hints for solution help the students to deepen their knowledge. The third edition has been updated and enlarged with new sections deepening the knowledge about data analysis. Moreover, a customized set of problems with solutions is accessible on the Web at extras.springer.com.
