Every now and again, a work will be published by a reformer or puritan that Christians find to be of such great spiritual worth, that it is hard to put into words the incalculable and infinite good that such a work is to the Christian soul. This book, friends, is one of those works. Burroughs expounds Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Christ invites sinners to come to Him for rest. Sinners, in this way, can be either Christians or unbelievers. Both are beckoned to “come.” In this work Burroughs shows first, the burden of sin, the burden of the Law, the burden of legal performances with the misery of those that are under them, the burden of corruption, and the burden of outward affliction. Secondly, he shows that Christ graciously offers to them that come to him, rest from all those burdens. In this he demonstrates what it is to come to Christ; that Christ requires nothing but to come to him. Several Rules to be observed in right coming to Christ, the means to draw souls to Christ, that in coming to Christ God would have us have respect toward ourselves, that there is no rest for souls out of Christ, and the reasons for this, with some conclusions from it. Thirdly, Burroughs shows the rest believers have from sin, that the deliverance from the Law by Christ is, privatively, and positively. He will show the rest believers have from the burden of the Law by coming to Christ, how Christ gives rest from the burden of legal performances, how Christ gives rest from the burden of corruption; in which is shown how sanctification and holiness comes only from Christ. And Burroughs demonstrates encouragements to come to Christ for holiness. He will explain how Christ gives rest from outward afflictions, and then considers some directions on how to get rest from Christ in spiritual desertions. God’s people have been personally helped by Burroughs throughout the centuries by all his works, and in this volume on coming to Christ, he again shows the inestimable spiritual value of his preaching and writing. This is a life-transforming work which will enable Christians to inwardly examine themselves as they consider how the Law of God correlates to their abiding in the Lord Jesus, and what steps they must take to come to Christ in a saving and sanctifying manner. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Pain, specifically the pain of a loss, is an unavoidable fact of life. Some of us have had so much pain that we are overwhelmed by it. The thought of trying to work through the pain, to face the realities of what has happened, may make us feel like shutting down and giving up. However, there is hope. There is a way to work through pain and to come out the other side stronger. In the end we have to make peace with the past in order to continue this life. The poetry collection As the Rest Come to My Heart was made during the most troublesome moments of Joannes Rhinos last 10 years of life, when dark clouds enveloped him. Anger, anxiety, emptiness, guilt and lost love coalesced into a single, unbearable emotion.

Does Jesus Christ make any provision for His children today to not only experience His peace and rest but also to enter into deeper intimacy with Him? Come Rest With Me answers these questions from Scripture, punctuated with real-life anecdotes that explain how Jesus can live His life through ours. The author also interviewed four widows whose husbands were killed by guerrillas. These women tell how real God's rest is in the fiery furnace of trials. "Credible, practical, Biblical, helpful-these words describe this book Come Rest With Me. Bryan's years of missionary service qualify him to say something very important to all Christians. Not to be read in a hurry, this book should be both savored and heeded. In addition to the Bible, this book is a great antidote to life's stress!" Dr. Laura Mae Gardner, former International Vice-President, Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL. "In these pages I have found both encouragement and challenge-encouragement to trust God through whatever difficulties I may face, and a challenge to follow the Lord fully. The true-life examples of the four missionary widows were very helpful. Thank you, Bryan, for bringing your insights to the Christian world." Dr. Ken Royer, Director of Missionary Care, Link Care Center, Fresno, CA. Since Bryan and Del Coupland joined New Tribes Mission, he has held such leadership positions as: missionary trainer, president and teacher at New Tribes Bible Institute, field director of NTM-Panama, executive board member of NTM-USA and NTM-Canada. Prior to becoming a missionary, Bryan was a veterinarian. The Couplands currently reside in Florida. They have three married children and eleven grandchildren. Bryan is available to speak on Christian living at churches, conferences, retreats and colleges.

Popular author and philosopher Peter Kreeft delves into one of the most beloved Christian classics of all time--Augustine's Confessions. He collects key passages and offers incisive commentary, making Confessions accessible to any reader who is both intellectually curious and spiritually hungry. The Confessions is a dramatic personal narrative of a soul choosing between eternal life and death, an exploration of the timeless questions great minds have been asking for millennia, and a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to God. I Burned for Your Peace is not a scholarly work but an unpacking of the riches found in Augustine's text. It is existential, personal, and devotional, as well as warm, witty, and thought-provoking. With Kreeft to guide them, readers of the Confessions can overhear and understand the intimate conversation between a towering intellect and the God whose peace he at last humbly accepts.
