Here, they are again arranged alphabetically, under the same word of reference as in Part First. Part Third (page 309) is an Alphabetical Index of subjects not enumerated in Part Second. The figures opposite each title denote the pages where books upon that subject can be found. With respect to the arrangement of the Classification, it may be well to state, that it is the same, with little exception, as that, which is used in the Catalogue of the Harvard University Library of 1830; and, as to a subject upon which the rules are so arbitrary and opinions so various, it is believed that this arrangement is as perfect as any heretofore published, and it is hoped that it will be as satisfactory to the mass of our readers as any which could be adopted.
