Excerpt from Charterhouse Register: 1872-1900 A list of the names of all Carthusians who entered the School between the years 1800 and 1879, together with some account of their careers, was published in 1879 by the Rev. W. D. Parish. The New Register contains a list of all who have been in the School between June 18, 1872 - the date of its removal to Godalming - and the end of 1900. Their number is 4,321; a full record is given of 4,098 of these, and an incomplete record of some fifty more. For this approximation to completeness we express our cordial thanks to those who have aided us in a long and laborious task. We earnestly hope that any who detect inaccuracies and omissions will communicate them. That there must be inaccuracies and omissions we know; but we have done our best to guard against these by forwarding his own entry, together with a request for corrections, to everyone whose name appears in the Register. It has not been practicable to state Fathers' names, or School Forms, or Marriages, or to insert all the Athletic distinctions which have been forwarded for publication.
