"Forest fragmentation has been an increasing forestry problem across the nation. In order to manage fragmented forest land, non-industrial private forest (NIPF) owner characteristics need to be understood. There has been extensive research on NIPF owner's characteristics and management behaviors for large parcels of land. In this study, NIPF owners who own 20 acres or less are investigated. Land owner characteristics and views on forest management were determined. Information gathered from the study indicates that NIPF owners who own 20 acres or less share the same characteristics of NIPF owners who own larger parcels of forestland"--Abstract.
