Gough's practical approach asks readers to examine the effects personal character has on performance, teammates, fans, the league, and other individuals and groups in sports. Gough discusses sport's powerful cultural force, its potential for positive impact in the lives and society of those involved in it, and the ethical dimension of games. Gough also addresses the tenuous state of ethics in today's sports culture and the great potential for improvement.

“What does it take to make a great general or a great leader in any field? . . . An excellent contribution to the study of leadership among those who make life-and-death decisions in the most challenging situations—one that could well serve as required reading in both military and business schools.”—Kirkus Reviews Throughout his life, Edgar F. “Beau” Puryear has studied America’s top military leaders. In his research for this book, he has sought to discover what allowed them to rise above their contemporaries; what prepared them for the terrible responsibilities they bore as the commanders of our armed forces during World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf, and on to today; how they are different from you and me. Ultimately, first and foremost, Dr. Puryear discovered that character is the single most important and the most distinctive element shared by these individuals: that character is everything! “Beau Puryear again reaches into his gold mine of research and comes forward with the essence of great generalship. . . . Well-done and a worthy read.”—General Colin L. Powell “We can always learn more about the importance of character to successful leadership. With this book, we do just that.”—General H. Norman Schwarzkopf

Risk everything . . . for love with this #1 New York Times bestseller. What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face . . . or kiss the boy next door? In Everything, Everything, Maddy is a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly is the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken. My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster. Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It's an innovative, inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more. And don’t miss Nicola Yoon's The Sun Is Also A Star, the #1 New York Times bestseller in which two teens are brought together just when it seems like the universe is sending them in opposite directions.

A teenage girl wonders if she's inherited more than just a heart from her donor in this compulsively readable debut. Seventeen-year-old Chloe had a plan: work hard, get good grades, and attend a top-tier college. But after she collapses during cross-country practice and is told that she needs a new heart, all her careful preparations are laid to waste. Eight months after her transplant, everything is different. Stuck in summer school with the underachievers, all she wants to do now is grab her surfboard and hit the waves--which is strange, because she wasn't interested in surfing before her transplant. (It doesn't hurt that her instructor, Kai, is seriously good-looking.) And that's not all that's strange. There's also the vivid recurring nightmare about crashing a motorcycle in a tunnel and memories of people and places she doesn't recognize. Is there something wrong with her head now, too, or is there another explanation for what she's experiencing? As she searches for answers, and as her attraction to Kai intensifies, what she learns will lead her to question everything she thought she knew--about life, death, love, identity, and the true nature of reality.

Character is the knowledge, which opens a treasure chest to the kingdom of life and love and life afterward. Our insights and writing is likened to Napoleon Hill's great book Think And Grow Rich. Our secret key to human character is that it is not psychological, per se. It is a blend of morals and ethics. Therefore think of it simply as thinking and doing good, right, helpful and better. Values shape character. Character isn't everything yet it affects everything in almost every phase of life. It is mentioned after selecting the wrong people for important positions, assuming high character without the evidence in prior history. We see it in sports, government, management and leadership, education and teaching, families and in our opinions about all of it. Human Love precedes character building. Character flaws are correctable. Honor can and does exist in civilian, day to day life although we hear of honor more in military activities then civilian life. There is an American Character. It has a lot to do with executing on The Common Good. The ways to develop High Character Practices (Winner Ways) versus the ways to overcome Low Character Practices (Loser Ways) are provided. Excellent Managers and Leaders, and Decent-Human-Beings, practice Character-Coaching to achieve high character practices to achieve the common good of an enterprise that includes profit for all stakeholders along with sustainability and growth.

This book is the result of my listening countless times the old proverb -1- Character is everything2- Money is lost , nothing is lost, health is lost, something is lost, and character is lost, everything is lost.I tried to ask people what the character is, everyone had the same thing - be honest, don't' tell a lie, and this and that, and it turned out , no one had any idea what character really is.So I tried search for more...And found 4 things.1- Religion is nothing but an attempt to teach us good values ( or character) in life, even if you cannot put words to a particular quality, you tend to understand what it means.2- Our forefathers have collected the all the character qualities, and made them in proverbs as well as folk tales.3- Most of the character qualities are based on very simple rules- society comes before individual, don't' take more than your fair share of resources.4- There is not even a single BOOK on character that I could find! Last book on character seems to have been written about 2000 years ago ( just after bible)I am not trying to be judgmental over what is right character or what is wrong character quality, that is for you to decide. This is all the information that I have collected over last week. Please fell free to distribute it, and improve it. Please give credit if you can and I hope you will have the best character according to your wishes.
