Excerpt from Catalogue of the State Library of Iowa This catalogue has its origin in a desire to give to the public, at the earliest day possible, a ready means of indicating the books contained in the library. No printed catalogue of this library has been published since 1872. The work was begun in June, 1888, and was placed in the hands of the printer in February, 1889. All accessions as late as February have been included, and during the printing all new books have been incorporated as far as possible. The library contained, the first of February, volumes, so that as nearly as can be estimated about volumes are included.
