Download Cardioprotection Against Acute Myocardial Infarction Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book will provide readers with a detailed understanding of the ischemic damage to the myocardium after myocardial infarction, as well as essential tools for the treatment of damaged heart after myocardial infarction. It discusses various methods such as pharmacological pre- and post-conditioning, cytokine therapy, and cell therapy especially using Muse cells. The coverage of Muse cell therapy, which includes the latest work done by the author and his collaborators, is a unique feature of the book. Muse cells have self-renewability and have ability to differentiate into cells with the characteristics of all three germ layers from a single cell, while they are non-tumorigenic. It is the first book to feature the Muse cell therapy, which may offer the new promising therapeutic strategy for acute myocardial infarction.

Download Myocardial Protection Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Myocardial protection is regarded as one of the most important, yet also most controversial aspects of cardiac surgery. There has been considerable improvement in myocardial protection strategies over recent years, utilising a variety of new approaches to treat cardiac diseases, and this text is intended to embrace the state of the art in this field. The book summarises the state of knowledge on all aspects of myocardial protection, including the latest in the treatment of cardiac diseases, robotics, pediatric surgery and the treatment of cardiac failure. Robotic surgery, valvular surgery, pediatric surgery and coronary surgery are all covered by renowned experts, producing a comprehensive, forward-looking view of the field of myocardial protection. This book should function to update physicians and surgeons interested in the field of cardiac surgery on the current state of knowledge on myocardial protection.

Download Adenosine, Cardioprotection and Its Clinical Application Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The immense growth in the number of articles on adenosine cardioprotection in recent years has been related in large part to the hypothesis that adenosine plays a role in ischemic preconditioning. Ischemic preconditioning is the phenomenon in which a brief period of ischemia (and reperfusion) prior to a more prolonged occlusion reduces myocardial infarct size. This form of myocardial protection has received much interest because ischemic preconditioning has been shown to be the most potent means of reducing infarct size in all animal models so far tested. Within the last six years, the principal focus of adenosine cardioprotection research has centered on the role of adenosine receptors. It is currently thought that adenosine protects the ischemic heart primarily via the activation of adenosine A1 receptors located on the cardiac myocytes. Adenosine is used clinically for terminating supraventricular tachycardia, and as a diagnostic tool in coronary imaging, and has been used postoperatively for blood pressure control after heart surgery. There are also recent reports that adenosine may be safely tolerated and a potentially beneficial additive to cardioplegic solutions during open heart surgery in humans. There is even evidence that ischemic preconditioning may occur in humans under various clinical situations. This volume contains chapters from contributors to the first three symposia on 'Adenosine, Cardioprotection, and its Clinical Application'. All aspects of adenosine cardioprotection and ischemic preconditioning, including potential mechanisms and clinical applications, are discussed by experts in these areas. The reader will find this book to be an excellent source of information on these topics, as well as a guide to future experiments.

Download Mitochondrial Biology and Experimental Therapeutics Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book addresses the therapeutic strategies to target mitochondrial metabolism in diseases where the function of that organelle is compromised, and it discusses the effective strategies used to create mitochondrial-targeted agents that can become commercially available drug delivery platforms. The consistent growth of research focused in understanding the multifaceted role of mitochondria in cellular metabolism, controlling pathways related with cell death, and ionic/redox regulation has extended the research of mitochondrial chemical-biological interactions to include various pharmacological and toxicological applications. Not only does the book extensively cover basic mitochondrial physiology, but it also links the molecular interactions within these pathways to a variety of diseases. It is one of the first books to combine state-of-the-art reviews regarding basic mitochondrial biology, the role of mitochondrial alterations in different diseases, and the importance of that organelle as a target for pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to improve human health. The different chapters highlight the chemical-biological linkages of the mitochondria in context with drug development and clinical applications.

Download Pathophysiology of Ischemia Reperfusion Injury and Use of Fingolimod in Cardioprotection Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Pathophysiology of Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury and Use of Fingolimod in Cardioprotection is a deep examination into the mechanisms of myocardial ischemiareperfusion injury and role of fingolimod as a cardioprotective agent through its antioxidant, anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory effects. Dr. Ahmed explore the physiology and pathophysiology of myocardial metabolism under normal and ischemic conditions and focused on pharmacological cardioprotection. They provide a concise, yet rigorous discussion of Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury, Myocardial Ischemia during Circulatory Arrest, Myocardial Reperfusion, Myocardial Protection related to Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury and Role of Fingolimod in Cardioprotection. Pathophysiology of Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury and Use of Fingolimod in Cardioprotection is ideal for researchers, cardiovascular scientists, and clinical pharmacologists to further work in this challenging area and apply this knowledge to clinical trials for cardioprotection. Provides detailed and critical analysis of the latest research in the field from molecular basis to potential clinical relevance Examines the effect of fingolimod/sphingosine 1-phosphate in cardioprotection, pointing to future myocardial preventative strategies
