Excerpt from Canada Medical and Surgical Journal, 1872, Vol. 1 Iwish to supplement a paper read by me before the Medico Chirurgical Society Of Montreal, on the 9th March last, on Paralysis with Aphasia, (when I gave the history Of four cases, ) by recording another case which has since come under my charge, and which I deem of sufficient interest to lay before your readers, particularly since, as it terminated fatally, I had an Opportunity Of verifying the diagnosis by a post mortem. It bears amost striking resemblance in some Of its pathological features to Case N O. 1 in my former paper. Excerpt from Canada Medical and Surgical Journal, 1874, Vol. 2 I have not selected for this evening's paper the subject of Fibrous Polypi and Fibrous Tumours of the Uterus, because that any novelty is attached to it or that I have any original views to announce respecting the origin, symptoms or treatment of such growths, but that having several specimens of these neoplasms in my possession removed at various times I hoped a brief clinical history of them might be of sufficient interest to the society to warrant me in intruding so practical a topic upon the consideration of its members. Excerpt from Canada Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 4: June, 1876 It appears that on the evening of the loth, Mrs. R. Was suddenly seized with most alarming symptoms of suffocation, constriction and pain within the chest, particularly on the left side, attended with great distress, countenance and skin livid, dyspnoea, and violent paroxysms of coughing, which ended in her coughing up a quantity of what ultimately proved to be fibrinous tube casts of the bronchi, equal in bulk to about a large table spoonful, when washed from the accompanying catarrhal expectoration. The sputa were at first, and only at first, very slightly tinged with blood. And a few blood points were observed on some of the tube casts. In a few hours another paroxysm of coughing ended in more expectoration of tube casts, the disappearance of cyanosis, and most marked relief to the patient. When I saw Mrs. R. Near midnight of the 11th I had the consolation to find - after my lonely drive of 30 miles - the patient wonderfully calm, breathing quietly, suffering no pain, and anxious only as to the significance of the beauti fully moulded bronchial trees, which had appeared in such questionable shape and which were carefully pre served in a bottle of water for my inspection. To her, and her husband, they were ominously suggestive of bronchial tubes and though I had never seen tube casts before, having only read descriptions of them, I was happy to be able to corroborate, much to the patient's peace of mind, Dr. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Canada Medical and Surgical Journal: September, 1876 The patient is a harmless, good-natured fellow, somewhat imbecile he has been for some time an inmate of the Protestant House of Refuge. The day before admission he went away from the Refuge and did not return. The following afternoon the police found him lying on his back, insensible, in an open place near the wharves quite unsheltered from the intense rays of the sun. He was at once conveyed to the Hospital. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
