This story is set in the late 1800's through the turn of the century. Jennifer wants to lead a quiet, peaceful life; away from the New York social swirl she has known. Also, she wants to be appreciated for her business acumen. She longs to live in a close-knit small town, where she can make a difference and leave a mark. However, Jennifer is the eye of her own personal tornado, and sweeps others along with her. Life with her is never dull. Falling in love with a rancher (Jacob) shortly after moving to the small town of Gaylord, Texas, there is an attempt on her life, from which she barely survives. She inherits a son (Chad) and daughter (Natalie) when she marries. One settled son and a headstrong and wild teenage girl, who gets herself into an extremely dangerous situation when she is sent to a finishing school in New Orleans. She falls in love with Jennifer's brother (Emile), who can never marry her. This is a love story, but a love story about many loves and the repercussions of falling in love. One young man (Julian) endures an unrequited love for many years. Another must learn to live with the memory of a great, but never consumated love. Love, attempted murder, murder, kidnapping, fire, and stalking are all a part of this in this page turner.

"Paul Kari was shot down in 1965 as a 29-year-old captain in the Air Force. He was captured by the Viet Cong and spent almost 8 years as a prisoner of war. The memoir recounts the triumphs and tragedies he endured as a first a farmer, then a fighter pilot, a husband and father. He emerged from prison as a Major, legally blind, due to maltreatment and malnutrition but with unfailing integrity and a still uncommon devotion to duty and country. It's a story written with clarity and minimum emotion, as he overcomes every obstacle with positivity, planning, hard work and commitment. Great insight into the minds of fighter pilots, the hearts of POWs, and the facts of the Vietnam War"--

Endurance runners and coaches have tended to neglect weight training and conditioning techniques, often in the belief that they don't benefit performance, add unwanted muscle bulk, or cause excessive soreness. But as standards at elite level have improved, so coaches and runners have become increasingly keen on learning about the latest new training techniques or ways to stay injury free. No longer does the running community view strength and conditioning with scepticism, or as something that can only benefit elite runners. In Strength and Conditioning for Endurance Running, author Richard Blagrove shows how a strength and conditioning programme can directly improve running performance and reduce the risk of injury, as well as allowing an athlete to tolerate high volumes of running in the future. Fully illustrated with 312 colour images and diagrams.
