If muscle growth seems nonexistent, but you don’t have time to spend more hours in the gym each day, don’t give up. There is a better way. Featuring a revolutionary approach to male physique transformation, Elite Physique: The New Science of Building a Better Body offers a fresh approach to body sculpting. Based on scientifically proven strategies for making workouts more effective, Elite Physique features over 100 exercises and 50 exercise videos for men seeking training programs designed to build muscle, burn fat, or target those problem areas that are slower to respond to training. Written by Dr. Chad Waterbury, a physical therapist who understands how bodies change with age, Elite Physique shows you how to make radical physical changes by manipulating sets, reps, and frequency and by deciding when and how to use advanced training methods. You’ll start by performing an honest physical assessment to establish a starting point and more accurately gauge your progress. As you move into exercises for the lower body and upper body, you'll find tips on altering exercises to alleviate stress on primary joints like the shoulders, elbows, wrists, lower back, hips, and knees. Video clips offer demonstrations of many of the exercises, highlighting proper technique and common mistakes. You’ll learn the finer points of sculpting the midsection and will be able to create programs to target a lagging body part, either as an add-on to full-body training or as a stand-alone high-frequency training plan. Waterbury also includes advice on how to make staple lifts such as squats, deadlifts, and presses more joint friendly for older, more physically battered lifters. He breaks down how training must change as you age—with a program for a 20-year-old looking different than one for a 50-year-old—to safely pursue your goal of a lean, muscular physique. Designed for men looking for the most effective approach to ignite their physique transformation, Elite Physique is a go-to resource. Note: A code for accessing the online video is included with this ebook.

“Identity politics” is everywhere, polarizing discourse from the campaign trail to the classroom and amplifying antagonisms in the media, both online and off. But the compulsively referenced phrase bears little resemblance to the concept as first introduced by the radical Black feminist Combahee River Collective. While the Collective articulated a political viewpoint grounded in their own position as Black lesbians with the explicit aim of building solidarity across lines of difference, identity politics is now frequently weaponized as a means of closing ranks around ever-narrower conceptions of group interests. But the trouble, Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò deftly argues, is not with identity politics itself. Through a substantive engagement with the global Black radical tradition and a critical understanding of racial capitalism, Táíwò identifies the process by which a radical concept can be stripped of its political substance and liberatory potential by becoming the victim of elite capture—deployed by political, social, and economic elites in the service of their own interests. Táíwò’s crucial intervention both elucidates this complex process and helps us move beyond a binary of “class” vs. “race.” By rejecting elitist identity politics in favor of a constructive politics of radical solidarity, he advances the possibility of organizing across our differences in the urgent struggle for a better world.

Using rare and previously unpublished images from around the world, The Elite: The A-Z of Modern Special Operations Forces is the ultimate guide to the secretive world of modern special operations forces. It sends the reader back in time to operations such as Eagle Claw in Iran and the recapture of the Iranian Embassy in London and then forward to recent operations against al-Shabaab and Islamic State. Entries also detail units ranging from the New Zealand SAS Group to the Polish GROM, and key individuals from Iraq counter-terrorism strategist General Stanley McChrystal to Victoria Cross recipient SASR Corporal Mark Donaldson. Answering questions such as how much the latest four-tube night vision goggles worn by the SEALs in Zero Dark Thirty cost, which pistol is most widely employed by special operators around the world and why, and if SOF still use HALO jumps, this book is the definitive single-source guide to the world's elite special forces.
