Coffee is produced and consumed internationally, and this popular crop produced is mainly in tropical regions. Developed countries are the main consumers of this crop. Coffee is also the leading exporting item for some countries like Ethiopia. However, in Brazil due to the diversification of products, coffee did not take the forefront of leading export items. The coffee production industry of Brazil is well productive unlike Ethiopia’s. In the first section, the article will discuss coffee production history of Brazil and in the second section it will discuss coffee production in Ethiopia, and finally, it will compare coffee production in both countries and put forward some suggestions for the production of coffee in Ethiopia.

Agricultural workers have long been underrepresented in labour history. This volume aims to change this by bringing together a collection of studies on the largest group of the global work force. The contributions cover the period from the early modern to the present – a period when the emergence and consolidation of capitalism has transformed rural areas all over the globe. Coffee and Transformation in São Paulo, Brazil advances a distinctive interpretation of the dynamism of the São Paulo region since the latter part of the nineteenth century. Large and entrepreneurial coffee landlords opened the frontier to the west of the state capital, playing a key role in making the state and Brazil the world's largest coffee producer for international markets. However, many of the immigrant settlers from Italy, Japan, Spain, and other countries emerged as major actors in the last phase of frontier expansion in western São Paulo. A substantial number of them found ways to become independent agriculturalists or enact new careers in commerce, industry, and services in the network of towns emerging in this region. This volume pays close attention to the political and economic implications of this region's process of segmentation and transformation, including their links to regionalism, political conflict, and the Revolution of 1930.
