The compiler would briefly say, that in his remarks, drawn from various sources, upon the cultivation of fruit, together with his own limited experience, his object is to render some service to the cultivator, by collecting and condensing from various sources, such directions as seemed of most importance in practice. Some of the varieties of pears, which from farther experience were found not desirable, are omitted in this edition. We have not inserted drawings of apples in the compilation, from the difficulty of identifying this fruit by single specimens. Our object is to bring together the experience of practical cultivators in a condensed form, and at a low price.
