Dreams can be the very basic plans of life, disturbing the qualities of my five senses. I began witnessing many perplexing situations in life that would not relate to my common sense. A man speaks to me from standing at my side yet the shadow engulfs his body as he appears without a face! How can a man appear right beside me and have no face for me to see? “Life is not how you make it, but how you dream it.” It seems to be a lesson well taught as the dream, and the events as in the dream unveil when I do see a face. Alone and suddenly caught up in the aura of love that for the moment seemed to have nothing to do with none of my five senses, yet I was so fully aware of being loved like I’ve never knew. Finally, seeing what was attracting me, it was not at all what I would ever guess could happen to me. But it did here in my soul, just like it was a dream, and then, realizing what was happening in my life was not only a dream, but just the beginning of “Souluos”—the spiritual joining of me with a man! Joy is a dreamer. What if her dreams in the night, when her eyes are closed, do come true in her life with a man that has no emotions? Chemistry of a man’s love is a different kind of spirit that captures the heart of a woman this time. Even broad daylight is blind when God joins her in “Souluos.”

A riveting debut novel set in contemporary Seoul, Korea, about four young women making their way in a world defined by impossible standards of beauty, after-hours room salons catering to wealthy men, ruthless social hierarchies, and K-pop mania “Powerful and provocative . . . a novel about female strength, spirit, resilience—and the solace that friendship can sometimes provide.”—The Washington Post NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY Time • NPR • Esquire • Bustle • BBC • New York Post • InStyle Kyuri is an achingly beautiful woman with a hard-won job at a Seoul “room salon,” an exclusive underground bar where she entertains businessmen while they drink. Though she prides herself on her cold, clear-eyed approach to life, an impulsive mistake threatens her livelihood. Kyuri’s roommate, Miho, is a talented artist who grew up in an orphanage but won a scholarship to study art in New York. Returning to Korea after college, she finds herself in a precarious relationship with the heir to one of the country’s biggest conglomerates. Down the hall in their building lives Ara, a hairstylist whose two preoccupations sustain her: an obsession with a boy-band pop star, and a best friend who is saving up for the extreme plastic surgery that she hopes will change her life. And Wonna, one floor below, is a newlywed trying to have a baby that she and her husband have no idea how they can afford to raise in Korea’s brutal economy. Together, their stories tell a gripping tale at once unfamiliar and unmistakably universal, in which their tentative friendships may turn out to be the thing that ultimately saves them.

A SUNDAY TIMES AND TELEGRAPH BOOK OF THE YEARSHORTLISTED FOR THE PENDERYN MUSIC BOOK PRIZEPeggy Seeger is one of folk music's most influential artists and songwriters. Born in New York City in 1935, she enjoyed a childhood steeped in music and left-wing politics - they remain her lifeblood. After college, she travelled to Russia and China - against US advice - before arriving in London, where she met the man with whom she would raise three children and share the next thirty-three years: Ewan MacColl. Together, they helped lay the foundations of the British folk revival, through the influential Critics Group and the landmark BBC Radio Ballads series. And as Ewan's muse, she inspired one of the twentieth century's most popular love songs, 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'. With a clear eye and generous spirit, Peggy writes of a rollercoaster life - of birth and abortion, sex and infidelity, devotion and betrayal - in a luminous, beautifully realised account.

This title was first published in 2003. This work considers the post-war folk revival in Britain from a popular music studies perspective. Michael Brocken provides a historical narrative of the folk revival from the 1940s up until the 1990s, beginning with the emergence of the revival from within and around the left-wing movements of the 1940s and 1950s. Key figures and organizations such as the Workers' Music Association, the BBC, the English Folk Dance and Song Society, A.L. Lloyd and Ewan MacColl are examined closely. By looking at the work of British Communist Party splinter groups it is possible to see the refraction of folk music as a political tool. Brocken openly challenges folk historicity and internal narrative by discussing the convergence of folk and pop during the 1950s and 1960s. The significant development of the folk/rock hybrid is considered alongside "class", "Americana", radio and the strength of pop culture. Brocken shows how the dichotomy of artistic (natural) versus industry (mass-produced) music since the 1970s has led to a fragmentation and constriction of the folk revival. The study concludes with a look at the upsurge of the folk music industry, the growth of festivals and the implications of the Internet for the British folk revival. Brocken suggests the way forward should involve an acknowledgement that folk music is not superior to but is, in fact, a form of popular music.

All five books in the Villains Club series in one volume! Fall in love with five billionaire brothers, all anti-heroes in this dark romance collection. This collection includes RULE (Maddox Rule’s story), TAKE (Trace Rule’s story), BURN (Julian Rule’s story), PLAY (Nick Rule’s story), and BANG (Helix Rule’s story). RULE Maddox Rule lives a life most men can only dream of. Nothing is out of his reach, thanks to his family’s wealth and power. He wields that control with one goal—his pleasure. But the good life he enjoys comes with strings, and if he wants to keep doing all those things he loves, he has to live up to his family’s expectations. That means taking a wife, even if he doesn’t want one. Not that I have any interest in being shackled to him either. When the man holding the most of my father’s debt, the notoriously cruel Stephen Rule, decides I’d be a perfect wife for his wayward son, I understand the true effect of my father’s lifetime of mistakes. He won’t have to pay for them. I will. Just how I’ll have to do that is up to one man. Maddox Rule. TAKE Trace Rule takes what he wants in this world. Jewels, money, anything he desires, thanks to his skill as a thief. There’s nothing like the thrill of possessing what isn’t his. But he’s not supposed to steal another man’s wife, especially the wife of a fellow Villains Club member. The problem is when he sets his sights on me, I don’t know who I’m dealing with. Powerful, manipulative, and charming, he doesn’t take no for an answer. If only I loved my husband. If only he cared about me. If only ours wasn’t a marriage of convenience. If only I could find it in me to say no. A villain skilled at taking what he desires has chosen me for his next crime. There’s nowhere for me to hide when Trace Rule decides what he wants. BURN Julian Rule had a life he loved. He had his future all planned out, and he did everything they told him he had to do for that life he dreamed of. Then it was taken away, and he was sent to hell. Never truly a Rule like the rest of his brothers, now he wants revenge. And if that means he has to burn it all down to get it, then that’s what he’ll do. The world thinks he’s all logic and brains, but I know a different man. A man who seethes at the wrong they did to him. A man whose passion burns white hot when it’s just the two of us. He’s ready to be the villain they forced him to be. And I’m ready to walk through fire for Julian Rule to have what we both want. PLAY The youngest of Stephen Rule’s sons, Nick Rule doesn’t have to worry about the pressures of pleasing his father like his older brothers have all their lives. That’s just one of the perks of being the baby. He’s grown up after four years in Europe, though, and the family he left isn’t the same anymore. His brothers are at war with one another, and both sides expect him to choose in this family fight. But he’s got better things to do now that he’s returned. He’s ready to step into the family business with a winning idea that will make his billionaire family even richer. Everyone’s thrilled to see the youngest Rule back home, but not me. Nick Rule is the quintessential bad boy with too much money. Charming, sexy, and unbelievably good looking, he expects women to fall at his feet. But I kneel for no Rule. I’ve hated him and his family for so long, nothing he can do will ever change that. Nick Rule is the enemy. As long as I hate all things Rule. BANG Helix Rule is a madman. Some say it comes from who his mother was. Others say it’s because of his father. Whatever the reason, he gets more dangerous with every passing day. His brothers think he’s the favorite son of Stephen Rule. If that’s true, his favor has been bought and paid for with blood, sweat, and tears. I don’t care about any of that, though. To me, Helix will always be that one soul who’s meant for me. Everyone thinks I’m some fool who doesn’t know what he does when I’m not around. I know. I also know why he does those things. You see, just as he’s the only person who understands me, I’m the only one who knows what lies beneath the madness. We’re joined together until the end. Only Helix decides when the end will come.
