From Jeremy C. Shipp, the Bram Stoker Award-nominated author of The Atrocities, comes a tense dark fantasy novel of psychological horror in Bedfellow. It broke into their home and set up residence in their minds. When the . . . thing first insinuated itself into the Lund family household, they were bemused. Vaguely human-shaped, its constantly-changing cravings seemed disturbing, at first, but time and pressure have a way of normalizing the extreme. Wasn’t it always part of their lives? As the family make more and greater sacrifices in service to the beast, the thrall that binds them begins to break down. Choices must be made. Prices must be paid. And the Lunds must pit their wits against a creature determined to never let them go. It's psychological warfare. Sanity is optional. A Rhode Island widow’s recent engagement is threatened by the shocking return of her husband in this romance from the New York Times–bestselling author. Dina Chandler has been to hell and back. Two-and-a-half years ago, her tempestuous marriage to Blake Chandler ended abruptly when his plane disappeared in the South American jungle. With no one else to take the helm, the lovely, grief-stricken widow found herself in charge of the vast Chandler hotel empire. Through it all, Blake’s old friend, Chet Stanton, had been her rock. The Newport air kisses Dina’s hair with salt as she says farewell to Blake’s old sailboat. She isn’t much of a sailor and—now that she’s engaged to Chet—Dina feels it’s time to let go. But when Dina arrives home, she thinks she’s seen a ghost. Always hot-tempered, Blake’s ordeal has utterly stripped him of his former sophistication, and he’s furious to find his return marred by Dina’s engagement. Terrified of the man whose bed she once shared, Dina must now choose between her new love and a savage stranger.

No Longer My Constant Bedfellow is the true story of how Deborah A. Tremblay was freed from the grip of domestic violence twice. Her first release was the night she physically escaped her abusive first husband, Kirk, in 1985; the second was when she emotionally and psychologically escaped his clutches in 2010, a full twenty-one years after his death. At nineteen, she had her son, Joshua, and began raising him as a single mother. One day, she met with an acquaintance named Kirk; they began dating and shortly thereafter married in a civil ceremony. Things went wrong from the beginning. He became possessive and difficult, his jealousy manifesting itself in violent rages. Things quickly progressed to the breaking point, and Deborah knew that for both her sake and her son’s sake, she needed to leave the marriage as soon as possible. On the night she planned to leave, her husband lie in wait and brutally attacked her as she tried to pack her belongings. He threw her into a wall and almost strangled her to death. She did escape, thanks to her father, and set out on a new life. But the events of that day would come back to haunt her in ways she would never imagine. No Longer My Constant Bedfellow is a cautionary tale of abuse and the unexpected legacy of that abuse.

Voluptuous Constance Ganymede saunters into the office of Dutch Diehard, private detective, one sultry July day and asks him to locate her husband, Franz, an adventurer and playboy who's gone missing. Dutch falls instantly in love (or at least lust) with Constance, eliciting jealousy in his favorite libation, Sputum-neck, that continually calls out to him like some satyr-seducing siren. Constance isn't the only one looking for Franz. Fritz Ganymede, twin brother of the missing Franz, also hires Dutch to find Franz, doubling Dutch's income to two halves of nothing. In spite of mangling facts to fit his hypotheses, Dutch is left with more questions than answers. Who paid Dutch a thousand in cash to play dumb? Which Ganymede did Dutch find taking a final beauty nap? Why is the military involved? Who keeps putting gum on the bottom of restaurant tables? Wait we don't actually deal with that last one in this book. Dutch Diehard is forced to wade through his many, MANY vices (and voices) to stay alive, get the girl, and solve the case. Achieving all of that might be aiming a little high, but high is where Dutch Diehard lives. Does that even make sense? It will, but God's teeth it gets convoluted.

"Joyful and funny . . . Park uses science, compassion, humor, diverse stories and examples of her own shame-free living to take the stigma out of these infections." —The New York Times With curiosity and wit, Strange Bedfellows rips back the bedsheets to expose what really happens when STDs enter the sack. Sexually transmitted diseases have been hidden players in our lives for the whole of human history, with roles in everything from World War II to the growth of the Internet to The Bachelor. But despite their prominence, STDs have been shrouded in mystery and taboo for centuries, which begs the question: why do we know so little about them? Enter Ina Park, MD, who has been pushing boundaries to empower and inform others about sexual health for decades. With Strange Bedfellows, she ventures far beyond the bedroom to examine the hidden role and influence of these widely misunderstood infections and share their untold stories. Covering everything from AIDS to Zika, Park explores STDs on the cellular, individual, and population-level. She blends science and storytelling with historical tales, real life sexual escapades, and interviews with leading scientists—weaving in a healthy dose of hilarity along the way. The truth is, most of us are sexually active, yet we’re often unaware of the universe of microscopic bedfellows inside our pants. Park aims to change this by bringing knowledge to the masses in an accessible, no-nonsense, humorous way—helping readers understand the broad impact STDs have on our lives, while at the same time erasing the unfair stigmas attached to them. A departure from the cone of awkward silence and shame that so often surrounds sexual health, Strange Bedfellows is the straight-shooting book about the consequences of sex that all curious readers have been looking for.

Elizabeth I acceded to the throne in 1558, restoring the Protestant faith to England. At the heart of the new queen's court lay Elizabeth's bedchamber, closely guarded by the favoured women who helped her dress, looked after her jewels and shared her bed. Elizabeth's private life was of public, political concern. Her bedfellows were witnesses to the face and body beneath the make-up and elaborate clothes, as well as to rumoured illicit dalliances with such figures as Robert Dudley. Their presence was for security as well as propriety, as the kingdom was haunted by fears of assassination plots and other Catholic subterfuge. For such was the significance of the queen's body: it represented the very state itself. This riveting, revealing history of the politics of intimacy uncovers the feminized world of the Elizabethan court. Between the scandal and intrigue the women who attended the queen were the guardians of the truth about her health, chastity and fertility. Their stories offer extraordinary insight into the daily life of the Elizabethans, the fragility of royal favour and the price of disloyalty.
