Stan Baumgartner descends from the Swiss immigrant Matthew (or Mathaus) Wilhelm Baumgartner (1857-1927) who married Sarah Masteller (1853- 1938) in Iowa. In 1864, Matthew's family came from Engi, Switzerland to Wisconsin. Matt and Sarah's son, Ralph Wesley Baumgartner married Winifred Inglis, the daughter of Norman Alexander Inglis and Mae Clemmer. Winifred's grandparents were David Donaldson Inglis (1839- 1910), who left Scotland, and married Matilda Weed (1844-1931) in Shanghai (China). The allied families of Weed, Clemmer, Inglis and Masteller came from England, Scotland and Ireland, and settled during the 1600-1700's in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania. During the 1800's, some families moved to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, the Dakota Territories and Wisconsin. Later descendants and allied families also lived in Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and elsehwere in the United States.
