In this paper we review the most recent results concerning B Baryons at CDF and D0, including the observation and the study of the properties of the?{sub b}−,?{sub b}− and?{sub b}{sup ±(*)}, the observation of new?{sub b}° decay modes, and a new measurement of the lifetime of the b hadrons in decays with a J/?. The?{sub b}− baryon is observed through the decay chain?{sub b}− → J/??−, where J/? →??−,?− →?K−, and? → pK−, using 4.2 fb−1 of data. The?{sub b}− mass is measured to be 6054.4 ± 6.8(stat.) ± 0.9(syst.) MeV/c2, and the lifetime 1.13{sub -0.40}{sup +0.53}(stat.) ± 0.02(syst.) ps. For the?{sub b}− the mass is measured 5790.9 ± 2.6(stat.) ± 0.8(syst.) MeV/c2 and the lifetime 1.56{sub -0.25}{sup +0.27}(stat.) ± 0.02(syst.) ps. A new accurate measurement of the properties of the resonances?{sub b}+,?{sub b}−,?*{sub b}+, and?*{sub b}− has been performed in 6 fb−1 of data, and the masses have been determined, m(?{sub b}+) = 5811.2{sub -0.8}{sup +0.9}(stat.) ± 1.7(syst.), m(?{sub b}−) = 5815.5{sub -0.5}{sup +0.6}(stat.) ± 1.7(syst.), m(?*{sub b}+) = 5832.0 ± 0.7(stat.) ± 1.8(syst.), and m(?*{sub b}−) = 5835.0 ± 0.6(stat.) ± 1.8(syst.). The?{sub b}° →?{sub c}(2595)+?− →?{sub c}+?−?+?−,?{sub b}° →?{sub c}(2625)+?− →?{sub c}+?−?+?−,?{sub b}° →?{sub c}(2455){sup ++}?−?− →?{sub c}+?−?+?−, and?{sub b}° →?{sub c}(2455)°?+?− →?{sub c}+?−?+?−. CDF has performed new measurements of the b hadron lifetimes in decays with a J/?. The measured lifetimes are the currently most precise determination of the B+, B° and?{sub b}° lifetimes. The measured values are c?(B+) = 491.4 ± 2.6(stat.) ± 2.6(syst.)?m, c?(B) = 451.7 ± 3.0(stat.) ± 2.5(syst.)?m, and c?(?{sub b}°) = 460.8 ± 13.4(stat.) {+-} 4.1(syst.)?m.

Combined results on b-hadron lifetimes, b-hadron production rates, B{sub d}°-{bar B}{sub d}° and B{sub s}°-{bar B}{sub s}° oscillations, the decay width difference between the mass eigenstates of the B{sub s}°-{bar B}{sub s}° system, the average number of c and {bar c} quarks in b-hadron decays, and searches for CP violation in the B{sub d}°-{bar B}{sub d}° system are presented. They have been obtained from published and preliminary measurements available in Summer 2000 from the ALEPH, CDF, DELPHI, L3, OPAL and SLD Collaborations. These results have been used to determine the parameters of the CKM unitarity triangle.

This 2nd edition is an extensive update of "B Decays?. The revisions are necessary because of the extensive amount of new data and new theoretical ideas. This book reviews what is known about b-quark decays and also looks at what can be learned in the future.The importance of this research area is increasing, as evidenced by the approval of the luminosity upgrade for CESR and the asymmetric B factories at SLAC and KEK, and the possibility of experiments at hadron colliders.The key experimental observations made thus far, measurement of the lifetimes of the different B species, B0-B0 mixing, the discovery of ?Penguin? mediated decays, and the extraction of the CKM matrix elements Vub and Vcb from semileptonic decays, as well as more mundane results, are described in great detail by the experimentalists who have been closely involved with making the measurements. Theoretical progress in understanding b-quark decays using HQET and lattice gauge techniques are described by theorists who have developed and used these techniques.Synthesizing the experimental and theoretical information, several articles discuss the implications for the ?Standard Model? and how further tests can be done using measurements of CP violation in the B system.

We review recent measurements of heavy B hadron states including masses and lifetimes of the B{sub c}− meson as well as excited B states (B**, B**{sub s}). We discuss properties of the B{sub s}° meson such as lifetime, lifetime difference [Delta][Lambda]{sub s}/[Lambda]{sub s} and CP violation in B{sub s}° → J/[psi][phi] decays. We also summarize new measurements of the masses and lifetimes of bottom baryons including the [Lambda]{sub b}° baryon, the [Sigma]{sub b} baryon states as well as the [Xi]{sub b}− and [Omega]{sub b}− baryons.

Bottom hadron lifetime measurements have been performed using B → J/[psi] → [mu]+[mu]−X dacays recorded with the collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) during the first half of the 1992--1993 Tevatron collider run. These decays have been reconstructed in a silicon vertex detector. Using 5344 ± 73 inclusive J/[psi] events, the average lifetime of all bottom hadrons produced in 1.8 TeV p{bar p} collisions and decaying into a J/[psi] events, the average lifetime of all bottom hadrons produced in 1.8 TeV p{bar p} collisions and decaying into a J/[psi] is found to be 1.46 ± 0.06(stat) ±0.06(sys)ps. The charged and neutral B meson lifetimes have been measured separately using 75 ±10 (charged) and 61±9 (neutral) fully reconstructed decays; preliminary results are [tau]{sup ±} = 1.63 ± 0.21(stat) ± 0.16(sys) ± 0. 10(sys) ps, yielding a lifetime ratio of [tau]{sup ±}/[tau]° = 1.06{plus_minus} 0.20(stat){plus_minus}0.12(sys).
