Download Aspects of Associative Processing Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Several aspects of information processing on a computer with an associative memory are discussed. The first section describes a source language for use with such an associative processor. An efficient way of simulating an associative processor on conventional computers is the topic of the second section. The conclusion contains a discussion of the underlying assumptions as well as several suggested applications. The applications to artificial intelligence and natural language processing indicate the greatest promise.

After historical introduction, the aspiration technique and imaging modalities are described. Thereafter, the use of aspiration cytology in the diagnosis and mainly in the sta- ging of urologic cancers is on still not well known appli- cations of the procedure in the staging of some organs (bladder, adrenals, penis, testis and secondary ureteral strictures) are reported.

Download An Associative Processor Using Bulk Storage Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
A major goal of the Association-Storing Processor project has been the development of an associative processor for general non-arithmetic computer applications which can be used in a time-sharing on-line mode of operation, which makes efficient use of parallel associative hardware to achieve high processing speed, and which uses an inexpensive serial-access bulk memory for data storage. To achieve this goal, the ASP-Dynabit system has been defined. It makes use of a set of parallel-access content-addressable memories, and a new memory device, called the Dynabit, as the central system components. The Dynabit is a magnetic wire shift register from which a serial-acess bulk memory having no moving parts can be constructed. Since it can be shifted at any rate, from and including zero to its maximum shift rate, it eliminates the need for external buffering. Also, using the Dynabit in conjunction with the associative memories, very complex data searches and modifications can be performed at nearly the maximum rate of data access, and with almost no block transfer of data from bulk storage. Because the ASP-Dynabit system uses associative hardware, it is well suited to LSI fabrication, and thus achieves its orders-of-magnitude improvement in processing speed without a commensurate increase in cost as compared with systems using serial processors. Download Study of Associative Processing Techniques Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This report describes designs of two novel stored program digital machines which process non-numeric data by use of distributed associative logic. The first machine is an associative processor, which is programmed to abstract properties from visual or other patterns, and to classify patterns by use of these properties. Associative logic simultaneously evaluates many linear threshold decision functions at high solution rates and with high digital accuracy. Functional behavior of the machine is easily modified by changing memory contents. The techniques used to evaluate threshold functions may also be used to evaluate arbitrary Boolean functions of stored and external variables. The second machine described is an associative file processor. This processor rapidly searches a data base, simultaneously against many descriptors. The processor uses an inexpensive disc memory for record storage. It allows variable record lengths with simple insertion, deletion, or modification of stored records. It allows equality research, limit search, or between limits search on all descriptors within input queries. Block diagrams, command sets, and logic descriptions are given for each processor. Each processor is programmed to accomplish its intended tasks. Applications for each processor are described. (Author).

Download RAPID: A Rotating Associative Processor for Information Dissemination Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The applications of associative memories and processors to non-numerical symbol-manipulation problems, in particular information storage and retrieval, are reviewed. An associative processor is proposed that can perform string processing and pattern matching operations needed for information retrieval application. It uses a cyclic memory device with a very high data rate in conjunction with an array processor. This system is called RAPID, Rotating Associative Processor for Information Dissemination, since it uses a rotating memory device and processes information associatively. A specific design for the array processing section is given. Some applications of this associative processor are illustrated through examples. (Author).
