At the mines where fatal accidents occurred there was an average of one life lost for each 89, 891 gross tons of coal produced. The 287 lives lost inside the mines during the year occurred at 211 mines' employing 23, 684 persons inside and produced gross tons of coal, while the other mines at which not a single life was lost inside the mines produced gross tons.
