Their nation has lived under a realm of peace for almost a hundred years, but now all of that has changed. Prince Gabriel, soon to be the next ruler, is faced with an unknown enemy intent on stealing his throne, and bringing chaos to his kingdom. As he goes up against the threat of war, Gabriel begins to see that there is a greater battle he must fight than the one his nation faces...a battle for his heart. In this, he is tested to find his true strength in overcoming the peril of his pride before he loses everything. Katya Nuremburg has her own demons to face as she returns to the land of her departed mother, so when she too becomes caught up in the turmoil that is shaking the nation, she quickly learns an important truth: only her faith will keep her standing firm. Together, she and Gabriel must stand united to fight against those who would seek to destroy everything they hold dear.

From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Held Evans: a must-read for anyone on the journey of doubt, deconstruction, and ultimately faith reborn. Eighty years after the Scopes Monkey Trial made a spectacle of Christian fundamentalism and brought national attention to her hometown, Rachel Held Evans faced a trial of her own when she began to have doubts about her faith. In Faith Unraveled, Rachel recounts growing up in a culture obsessed with apologetics, struggling as her own faith unraveled one unexpected question at a time. In order for her faith to survive, Rachel realizes, it must adapt to change and evolve. Using as an illustration her own spiritual journey from certainty to doubt to faith, Evans challenges you to disentangle your faith from false fundamentals and to trust in a God who is big enough to handle your tough questions. In a changing cultural environment where new ideas seem to threaten the safety and security of the faith, Faith Unraveled is a profoundly moving, fearlessly honest, and relentlessly hopeful story of survival. This book was previously titled Evolving in Monkey Town.

THIS BOOK ADDRESSES VITAL QUESTIONS CONCERNING ENDTIME EVENTS DEPICTED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION AND THE CALLING OF WARRIOR-SPIRITED CHRISTIANS OF THIS GENERATION. We are right on the verge of devastating events that will create great fear and chaos throughout the world and especially in our comfort-seeking nation. These are end-time events that are quite mystifying but extremely critical for this generation of Christianity to understand. The mission of this book is to provide a clearer understanding of these times by looking at biblical prophecy through our 21st century eyes. It is intended to feed the warrior spirit within that Christian remnant who are aware of the tremendous challenges that lie before us and are seeking guidance as to what we are about to confront, and how to "be ready." Hopefully, this book will encourage many Christians who are discerning that troubling times are about to descend upon the United States, as well as the entire world, to begin preparing now. Those who have seriously prepared will be among the Christian leaders in the Army of God who will stand strong in the glorious power of our Lord in the midst of these catastrophic times. This in-depth study of the Book of Revelation is truly a serious field guide to help prepare Christian warriors for the great tribulations which will precede the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to restore His kingdom on the earth. Don Bell is currently a partner in a CPA firm in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, he served in the Marine Corps for twenty years including two tours on the front-lines of Vietnam. He retired as a major at age 38, but was also enlisted for six of those years. In this anthology of recent criticisms aimed at the reasonableness of Christian belief, a former evangelical minister and apologist, author of the critically acclaimed Why I Became an Atheist, has assembled fifteen outstanding articles by leading skeptics, expanding on themes introduced in his first book. Central is a defense of his "outsider test of faith," arguing that believers should test their faith with the same skeptical standards they use to evaluate the other faiths they reject, as if they were outsiders. Experts in medicine, psychology, and anthropology join Loftus to show why, when this test is applied to Christianity, it becomes very difficult to rationally defend. Collectively, these articles reveal that popular Christian beliefs tend to rely on ignorance of the facts. Drawing together experts in diverse fields, including Hector Avalos, Richard Carrier, David Eller, and Robert Price, this book deals a powerful blow against Christian faith.

As Americans seem bent on dismantling the safety net of the New Deal era, the most popular version of the culture wars' thesis paints an arguably cosmic battle between defenders of religious orthodoxy who embrace laissez-faire capitalism and secular elites who have imposed a Marxist welfare state upon an unsuspecting populace. Walsh shows that this thesis ignores the role of religious leaders in legitimizing the types of programs embodied in America's approach to the welfare state. Walsh explores the arguments of William Jennings Bryan, America's foremost fundamentalist who opposed the Social Darwinism often associated with the defense of laissez-faire capitalism, John Ryan, the Catholic priest whose writings foreshadowed Roosevelt's New Deal legislation, Reinhold Niebuhr, the influential mainstream Protestant leader who defended America's Cold War strategy of containment while opposing laissez-faire capitalism, and the arguments of influential African American Protestant and Jewish leaders. Finally he looks at the role of religious leaders in the contemporary debates over issues such as health care and welfare reform. Whenever possible, the relationship between the official views of the religious leaders is analyzed in light of the opinions and voting patterns of their constituents. The opinions and voting patterns of secular Americans are also contrasted to those of religious Americans. Of particular interest to scholars, students, and general readers concerned with the role of religion in American politics.
