He made Paris his home, and under the patronage of the Abb de Marolles, the great print col Iector, he studied constantly to improve and perfect his art. About 1650 he returned to London, married, and took a house near Temple Bar, where he engraved plates and sold prints - Italian, French, Dutch, etc., as well as his own. This was the period of his greatest activity. During the following thirty years he made a great variety of portraits, frontispieces, etc., retiring from print-selling in 1680 to a house in Printing House Yard, Blackfriars, where he still engraved plates and made a number of crayon portraits which were much admired.
