To those interested the writer has endeavored to present in as clear a manner as possible the general principles of telephony, the design and construction of commercial apparatus, the circuits connecting such apparatus into operative systems, and the methods used in the construction, operation, and maintenance of these systems. No attempt whatever has been made to treat the subject from its purely mathematical standpoint, that being beyond the scope of this work.
