Esto ha sido posible al mejorar las condiciones de educación, higiene y salud general de la población como ha ocurrido con otras enfermedades. Así, el cólera, la tuberculosis o el infarto de miocardio en la segunda mitad del siglo XX disminuyeron antes de que hubiera tratamientos farmacológicos causales. Desgraciadamente, esta buena noticia no ocurre en los países del tercer mundo. La monografía analiza las bases por las cuales la prevención de Alzheimer es posible.
