Excerpt from Agricultural Conservation Program: Statistical Summary, 1958 This book is an annual publication of the Agricultural Conservation Program Service which brings together data relative to conservation measures performed on farms participating in the Agricultural Conservation Program and information with respect to participation, assistance, pooling agreements, and other related data. Information with respect to the extent of conservation measures performed under the 1956 Agricultural Conservation Program and amounts of assistance given for such measures was obtained from performance reports filed by participants in the program. The amounts shown under Assistance were obtained by tabulating the actual amount of funds paid as the Federal cost share to the farmer for the performance of the practice. The amount of assistance shown for the conservation practices in this publication varies from the Credit Value data which was shown in publications relating to programs prior to the 1951 Agricultural Conservation Program in that the Credit Value was not identical with the amount of assistance actually given (see Agricultural Conservation Program Statistical Summary 1955) The Assistance shown for each practice does not include any of the funds for Small cost-share Increases which are required by legislation.
