It would appear that there will always be some children who have difficulty acquiring number sense at a young age. These difficulties, if left unresolved, can become worse over time as children get further behind in mathematics, increasing the gap of understanding in these young children. The first tier of prevention in the RTI model is high-quality instruction within in the classroom. This project attempted to find one potential solution for students by providing a supplemental curriculum to Everyday Mathematics that allows a teacher to provide additional mathematics instruction and practice through games and activities. This project additionally suggests a workshop model to deliver this supplemental math curriculum, in order to include opportunities for additional small group and individual instruction.
