AS is well known, the Chinese element is strongest in California and the other Pacific states. In the East the greatest number is in New York. There are two Chinese papers, one in New York, the other in San Francisco. Japanese - Japanese is spoken by less than a hundred persons. The Census gives 80 as born in Japan.
