"Site 45-FR-I is located on an Island in the Snake River about 13 miles upstream from its confluence with the Columbia River. The Island is somewhat small being only about 1/4 of a mile long and about 300 yards in width. The river at this point flows in an eat-west direction with the Island paralleling this direction and lying close to the north shore. Excavations at this site were devoted almost entirely to the burial sections. Three types of burials were located here--Pit Burial, Plank Cist Burial, Plank Burials. Following are the reports on these burials as submitted by the Columbia Archaeological Society" -- Page [1].
