A numerical procedure is outlined for obtaining an interval estimate of a parameter in an empirical Bayes estimation problem. The case where each observed value x has a binomial distribution, conditional on a parameter zeta, is the only case considered. For each x, the parameter estimated is the expected value of zeta given x. The main purpose is to throw some light on the effectiveness of empirical Bayes estimation in samples of various sizes. Illustrative numerical results are presented. (Author).

A numerical procedure is outlined for obtaining an interval estimate of a parameter in an empirical Bayes estimation problem. In the particular problem considered, each observed value X has a binomial probability distribution depending on the binomial parameter Z, where Z has an unknown distribution. For each x, the parameter estimated is epsilon(Z/X = x), the posterior mean. Illustrative numerical results are presented. (Author).

Data Gathering, Analysis and Protection of Privacy through Randomized Response Techniques: Qualitative and Quantitative Human Traits tackles how to gather and analyze data relating to stigmatizing human traits. S.L. Warner invented RRT and published it in JASA, 1965. In the 50 years since, the subject has grown tremendously, with continued growth. This book comprehensively consolidates the literature to commemorate the inception of RR. Brings together all relevant aspects of randomized response and indirect questioning Tackles how to gather and analyze data relating to stigmatizing human traits Gives an encyclopedic coverage of the topic Covers recent developments and extrapolates to future trends

Download Bayesian Theory and Methods with Applications Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Bayesian methods are growing more and more popular, finding new practical applications in the fields of health sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, business and economics and social sciences, among others. This book explores the use of Bayesian analysis in the statistical estimation of the unknown phenomenon of interest. The contents demonstrate that where such methods are applicable, they offer the best possible estimate of the unknown. Beyond presenting Bayesian theory and methods of analysis, the text is illustrated with a variety of applications to real world problems.
