Download A Determination of Diffusion Coefficients for Gaseous Systems at Various Temperatures Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The transport property which is most fundamentally related to forces between unlike molecules is the ordinary diffusion due to concentration gradients. Unfortunately, this property and its dependence upon temperature have not been systematically studied experimentally, with the result that the literature does not contain the data necessary to obtain good force constants for the introduction of unlike molecuels. The present work describes an experimental method for determining diffusion coefficients, based on the variation of thermal conductivity with composition in binary mixtures which is capable of being used over a wide range of temperature. Experimental results for the systems n-butane-hydrogen, sulfur hexafluoride-hydrogen, argon-hydrogen, and argon-helium are given for a temperature range from 10°C. to 140°C.

Download An Interferometric Method of Determining Diffusion Coefficients in Gaseous Systems Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This report describes a new type of experimental method for accurately measuring diffusion coefficients in gaseous systems. The change of composition in the diffusion cell is followed by measuring the change in refractive index with an interferometer. Results obtained using this method compare favorably with some values reported in the earlier literature. In addition, values are reported for new systems not studied previously. A comparison is made between measured values nd those calculated from viscosity data.

Download Adsorption and Diffusion Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
"Molecular Sieves - Science and Technology" covers, in a comprehensive manner, the science and technology of zeolites and all related microporous and mesoporous materials. The contributions are grouped together topically in such a way that each volume deals with a specific sub-field. Volume 7 treats fundamentals and analyses of adsorption and diffusion in zeolites including single-file diffusion. Various methods of measuring adsorption and diffusion are described and discussed.

Download Catalytic Reactors Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Catalytic Reactors presents several key aspects of reactor design in Chemical and Process Engineering. Starting with the fundamental science across a broad interdisciplinary field, this graduate level textbook offers a concise overview on reactor and process design for students, scientists and practitioners new to the field. This book aims to collate into a comprehensive and well-informed work of leading researchers from north America, western Europe and south-east Asia. The editor and international experts discuss state-of-the-art applications of multifunctional reactors, biocatalytic membrane reactors, micro-flow reactors, industrial catalytic reactors, micro trickle bed reactors and multiphase catalytic reactors. The use of catalytic reactor technology is essential for the economic viability of the chemical manufacturing industry. The importance of Chemical and Process Engineering and efficient design of reactors are another focus of the book. Especially the combination of advantages from both catalysis and chemical reaction technology for optimization and intensification as essential factors in the future development of reactors and processes are discussed. Furthermore, options that can drastically influence reaction processes, e.g. choice of catalysts, alternative reaction pathways, mass and heat transfer effects, flow regimes and inherent design of catalytic reactors are reviewed in detail. Focuses on the state-of-the-art applications of catalytic reactors and optimization in the design and operation of industrial catalytic reactors Insights into transfer of knowledge from laboratory science to industry For students and researchers in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Catalysis and practising Engineers
