In the chapters on "Bandaging" and "Apparatus" I have endeavoured to avoid unnecessary complexity, at the same time, however, alluding to most of the appliances in common use in the metropolitan hospitals, the greater number of which I have visited with this special object in view. The illustrations are all new and original, being careful copies, by Mr. Swain, of Bouverie Street, from photographs taken for the purpose, under my own superintendence.
