In My Life: A Wondrous Journey of Faith, Family, and Friends, Ron Harper looks back on his 80+ years and recounts how a young boy from the small town of Bard, California managed to succeed in life through the influence of God, family, and friends. We join Ron on a journey through his childhood, schooling, marriage, and his adventurous construction career that led him to work for Sea World and eventually build his own company, Harper Construction. His personal and professional successes and struggles are told with humor and depth of heart while focusing on the blessings that have remained. "As I settle into the decade of my 80's, many memories flood my mind: memories of my childhood, marriage, family, business, and friendships. I am grateful to have enjoyed the life God has given me, including a wonderful wife and family, great friends, good health, and a business that has helped provide many joys for us all. Through my eight decades on the Earth, I have had the opportunity to reflect on these many gifts and through this process, to analyze how and why these things have come to pass. While I have worked hard most of my life and received a relatively good education, I certainly don't attribute all my good fortune to these things alone. Why, I ask myself, have I come to enjoy so many blessings? I have come to a relatively simple answer. Three factors have been paramount in my life: Faith, Family, and Friends. In my formative years, I embarked upon a successful course in life, obtaining a solid education, pursuing a productive and rewarding career, and marrying my beautiful and caring wife, Kaye who blessed me with four amazing children. But it was not until I entered into a deeper relationship with Jesus that the full blessings of my life would fully blossom."

How do you find the courage to go on when everything you knew is gone? That is a question faced by Philipp Weingartner several times in his life. Born into a family of insignificant farm labourers in a town, region, and country erased from our maps, Philipp set out on a journey—both geographical and spiritual—across the front lines of two World Wars, and eventually across an ocean to a new life in Canada. This biographic collaboration between Erich Weingartner and his late father Philipp's writings gives witness to the tenacity of the human spirit. It provides abundant affirmation that commitment to a life of faith can empower ordinary people to become extraordinary in times of great need. Based on diaries, letters, articles and sermons, A Journey of Faith details one man's lived experience of tragedy, survival, and a passion to serve the less fortunate.

This book is a journal made up of 111 articles that were published in our local paper. The woman who wrote the journal was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in December of 2006 and her goal was to help people understand what it was like living and coping with the disease on a daily basis. She wrote about her everyday life, her Chemo and Radiation treatments, her trip to Seattle for Cyber Knife treatment. She wanted people to know that it was possible to lead a somewhat normal life even though the prognosis wasnt good. She tried to give people an insight into thought process that a person with Lung Cancer goes through. The author bared her soul in these articles in order help others with cancer or who had loved ones with the disease. Ann Keefe was my wife, she passed away on April 15th 2009 and I had her Journey of Faith, Hope & Health published in her memory.

"Extraordinary. . . . Let this story of family, race, and resistance create anger in your spirit and ultimately inspire your heart to join the work to heal our nation and eventually our world."--Otis Moss III (from the foreword) Drawing on her lifelong journey to know her family's history, leading Christian activist Lisa Sharon Harper recovers the beauty of her heritage, exposes the brokenness that race has wrought in America, and casts a vision for collective repair. Harper has spent three decades researching ten generations of her family history through DNA research, oral histories, interviews, and genealogy. Fortune, the name of Harper's first nonindigenous ancestor born on American soil, bore the brunt of the nation's first race, gender, and citizenship laws. As Harper traces her family's story through succeeding generations, she shows how American ideas, customs, and laws robbed her ancestors--and the ancestors of so many others--of their humanity and flourishing. Fortune helps readers understand how America was built upon systems and structures that blessed some and cursed others, allowing Americans of European descent to benefit from the colonization, genocide, enslavement, rape, and exploitation of people of color. As Harper lights a path through national and religious history, she clarifies exactly how and when the world broke and shows the way to redemption for us all. The book culminates with a powerful and compelling vision of truth telling, reparation, and forgiveness that leads to Beloved Community. It includes a foreword by Otis Moss III, illustrations, and a glossy eight-page black-and-white insert featuring photos of Harper's family.
