The milk-sickness or endemic sick stomach, has for a long while been familiarly known to the inhabitants of many localities through out the Western and Southern States, and has annually destroyed the lives of many of the settlers in those districts, together with the lives of immense numbers of the inferior animals of various kinds, which constitute an important part of the pecuniary wealth of western and southern farmers.
