The importance of the subject on which it treats, the advantage of shewing at one view what has been already done in pathology, and the facility it renders to the student of classing such additional facts as he may meet with in his reading or experience, require no comment; and, as such, I trust it will be found no mean help in professional inquiry. The additional references given by the author in his Appendix I have incorporated in the body of the work, as he proposed; and to these I have added further references and notices of cases which have come within my own knowledge, all of which are bracketed and marked T.to prevent confusion.
