Download Twin Block Functional Therapy Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Twin Block appliances are simple bite blocks that are designed for full-time wear. They achieve rapid functional correction of malocclusion (misalignment of upper and lower teeth) by the transmission of favourable occlusal forces to occlusal inclined planes that cover the posterior teeth. The forces of occlusion are used as the functional mechanism to correct the malocclusion (www.twinblocks.com). Beginning with an introduction to orthodontics and twin blocks, the next chapters describe growth studies and diagnosis and treatment planning. Each of the following sections discusses the use of twin blocks for different types of malocclusion. With a focus on the latest developments in functional therapy, the book offers guidance on diagnosis, treatment planning, case selection, appliance design and clinical management. Written by the internationally recognised Orthodontist William Clark from Fife, UK, who also invented Twin Blocks, this comprehensive guide includes nearly 600 clinical photographs and illustrations. Key points Comprehensive guide to use of Twin Blocks in treatment of malocclusion Focus on latest developments in functional therapy Written by UK-based inventor of Twin Blocks Includes nearly 600 images and illustrations

Download A Cephalometric Comparison of Class II Extraction Cases Treated with Tip-edge and Edgewise Techniques Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The aim of this study was to compare cephalometric changes in skeletal and dento-alveolar parameters in cases treated by these two different orthodontic techniques. This was to be established by calculating and comparing the pre- and post-treatment cephalometric variables of cases treated with these techniques by looking at the skeletal and dento-alveolar measurements. Thirty Tip-Edge and thirty edgewise treated cases that had class II malocclusion, had extraction of four premolars and were treated with Class II elastics were selected. The gender distribution between the Tip-Edge and the edgewise techniques were 47% and 60% respectively for females. For males it was 53% in Tip-Edge and 40% in the edgewise techniques. The mean ages were 17.8 for Tip-Edge and 13.8 for edgewise techniques. The pre- and post-cephalometric radiographs were collected and the landmarks used were digitized using a Dolphin 10.5 Imaging and management solutions program

Download Molar Distalization to Resolve Class II Malocclusion Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the short-term skeletal and dental effects that occur as a result of Class II malocclusion correction utilizing the Carrière! Distalizer as compared to best-matched controls. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort cephalometric study using lateral cephalometric films of 25 (14 male, 11 female, average age 13y 6m) class II patients consecutively treated with the Carrière Distalizer compared with 36 (19 male, 17 female, 13y 2m) untreated class II control subjects from a historical database best-matched based upon age, sex and skeletal classifications. Pretreatment and posttreatment lateral head films were analyzed with conventional cephalometric analysis to evaluate treatment effects. Results: Class II correction was accomplished by 2.46 apical base change, 1.24 mm distal movement of the maxillary movement, 4.8° distal tip and 2.64 mm mesial movement of the mandibular molars. Other profound treatment changes occurred include significant increased lower incisor proclination, 4.83° and a steepened functional occlusal plane, 1.3°. Conclusion: The Carrière Distalizer is an effective means to establish a class I occlusal platform in approximately 4 months during the initial phase of comprehensive orthodontic treatment.
