Readers of the authors earlier books will be familiar with the communications of the Phoenix Spirit Group. The present book is devoted to the communications of spirit visitors who have made guest appearances to share experiences and learning from their previous earthly lives. Here you will meet scores of these visitors including Isabella who lived in the 18th century who was thought by her contemporaries to have airs and graces, liked to create a stir when entering a room and was over attached to her clothes. Some seemed to learn and develop through the very nature of their occupation such as James, a dragoon in the early 19th century who learned calmness and to live in the moment. The anonymous gangster who was engaged in protection rackets reflected deeper flaws in character than Isabella but demonstrates how all may transmute themselves in time. Some learned from difficult life experiences or circumstances such as Elena, living in the late 1700s, who was overcome by grief upon the death of her husband, the pain clouding her vision and extinguishing her hope. She now wishes she could dry all the tears of those affected by grief and give them a rose of hope.

Spirit Power explores the manifestation of the American Century in Korean history with a focus on religious culture. It looks back on the encounter with American missionary power from the late nineteenth century, and the long political struggles against the country’s indigenous popular religious heritage during the colonial and postcolonial eras. The book brings an anthropology of religion into the field of Cold War history. In particular, it investigates how Korea’s shamanism has assimilated symbolic properties of American power into its realm of ritual efficacy in the form of the spirit of General Douglas MacArthur. The book considers this process in dialog with the work of Yim Suk-jay, a prominent Korean anthropologist who saw that a radically cosmopolitan and democratic world vision is embedded in Korea’s enduring shamanism tradition.

Exploring the Human Spirit is a collection of essays Richard Dance wrote for a study group that grew out of an East-West philosophy course he taught at several colleges in Arizona. His philosophy students asked him to start a study group to explore more deeply the ideas presented in the class. He obliged by writing essays on various topics that he thought would benefit others, and everyone met at his home monthly for a presentation on each essay. These Mindful Medicine Salons unfolded spontaneously over two years with several hundred participants in attendance, creating a wonderful sense of community in the pursuit of self-knowledge. Great thanks go to all the students without whom this book would have never existed.

Suppose you could communicate with a visitor who was not from this place, time-space or even this dimension? What would you want to ask them? The answers probably lie in what our own response would be if we were them. This book is based on a collection of interviews I have had with a few individuals who may have actually had such an experience. The idea is that if enough of us are ready to ask the questions and gain the answers, then our collective knowledge and understanding of the "multiverse" about us can only continue to be enhanced. Sometimes the responses that you will read here are similar; often they are diametrically opposed to each other. An open but highly skeptical mind is extremely necessary if you are going to sift through the data that is presented in this book. The intent is that it should peak your curiosity to learn more about "visitors." In this way, we may be better informed and prepared, and thus in some sort of coherent shape to deal with their arrival. If you read this book, you must be well prepared to choose for yourself what you will or will not believe.
