The Report identifies four areas of particular importance. First, worldwide asymmetries deriving from globalization need to be redressed. Second, the goal of reducing inequality must be explicitly incorporated in policies and programmes aimed at poverty reduction. Third, priority must be given to expanding and improving opportunities for employment. Finally, social integration and cohesion must be promoted as key to development, peace and security.
