Performing in a high G environment is extremely demanding on the body: pulling G forces blood to the body’s extremities, putting the pilot, astronaut or driver at risk of G-Induced Lack of Consciousness (G-LOC). In “Pulling G” Erik Seedhouse describes what it feels like to pull 7 G in a fighter plane and the G pressures on the body when driving a Formula 1 car and many other gravity-defying vehicles. The book relates, for the first time, the effects of G in both hyper-gravity and microgravity. It describes the human response to increased and decreased G and the potentially dangerous effects of high G, with particular reference to dynamic injuries sustained in high acceleration environments. “Pulling G” provides an overview of G-related research and the development of intervention methods to mitigate the effects of increased and reduced G. As well as relating the training required to overcome G-forces on the Formula 1 track, Erik Seedhouse looks at the G forces encountered in such G environments as ejection from an aircraft, launch/re-entry, and zero-G. The book also considers how artificial gravity can be used to prevent bone demineralization and to reduce the effects of de-conditioning in astronauts. Erik Seedhouse is eminently qualified to describe the effects of large accelerations on the body. In addition to being the author of several previously published Springer Praxis books, he has developed astronaut-training protocols and is the training director for Astronauts for Hire (A4H). He is also the Canadian Forces’ High Risk Acceleration Training Officer.

Physics is our attempt to conceptually grasp all the happenings around us. Then, realizing that concepts are the free creations of the human mind helps us develop proper understanding of a subject, especially during formative stages. This introductory book on Physics presents careful analysis of the develop-ments of basic concepts for the beginners. It is written in a way that stimulates students and creates a sustained interest in Physics so that studying the subject is enjoyable and satisfying. The physical concepts are explained clearly enough for anyone to understand. In this text, the exercises are provided in three different categories, namely, as questions, as problems, and as multiple choice questions. The first category of exercises contains thought provoking and descriptive questions. The second category of exercises involves numerical computations. The third category of exercises, of multiple choice questions, provides a reader with a flavour of the currently popular mode of examination. Intended for the introductory-level college physics courses, the book will also be an invaluable resource for the students preparing for various competitive examinations. Key Features Readers can modify the given situation to design questions and problems. Solved examples provide quantitative as well as qualitative features of physical situations encountered in the real life. Pigeons The Theory of Everything is the true story of one mans quest to find meaning in what appears to be a meaningless world. The first part of the book is an examination of the intermittent new reels of Robert’s life that comprise his memories. These news reels are an eclectic mix of the splendor and wonder of nature juxtapose the horror and graphic violence that became Robert’s life. These stream of conscientiousness news reels are hauntingly beautiful and tragic. The middle of the book contains a dialog between Robert and his friend Dr. James Tenney. As Robert and James plumb the depths of human existence and knowledge something wonderful begins to happen. From the shattered fragments of Robert’s life and the intermittent news reels of his memories Robert begins to construct a beautiful mosaic. This mosaic of meaning and answers eventually exceeds Robert’s wildest dreams. Armed with this epiphany of answers Robert becomes obsessed with a new goal of completing the theory of everything, which is the “Holy Grail” of theoretical physics. With Pigeons The Theory of Everything Robert answers the central mysteries of theoretical physics as well as the central mysteries of human existence. If you have ever wondered if there is a God and what God is, this book is for you. If you have ever agonized over your own mortality and the possibility of not existing forever, this book is for you. If you have ever wondered if anyone would ever answer the ultimate questions of the cosmos and human existence, this book has the answers you are seeking.
