There are, it is true, some few miscellaneous works, containing articles in various sciences and arts, and one or two others, composed of dull and heavy subjects of abstruse calculation, written expressly for those journals, and which seem as if they were intended to gratify the inclination of their authors for displaying their profundity, and to limit the number of their readers. These works form no record of chemical science, which should consist of all that occurs within the period of publication.
