The ministry of William H. Weiblen at Wartburg Theological Seminary bridges the generations from the time of J. Michael Reu and the second generation of Fritschels to the present time of celebration at the seminary's sesquicentennial. This book captures the wisdom of Dr. Weiblen as he reflects on the missionary history of the seminary and the course of his own life. 'The Air I Breathe Is Wartburg Air' includes intimate conversations with Bill Weiblen and offers a substantial collection of his theological writings, addresses, and sermons.

Download Asian Contextual Theology for the Third Millennium Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
In this volume, an attempt is undertaken to highlight the genesis, progress, and transformation of Asian contextual theology of minjung, introducing its historical point of departure, its development, and its transformation in light of younger Korean and Korean American scholars' endeavors. In this regard, the new Asian contextual theology, which is emerging, strives to integrate both minjung and the wisdom of World Religions into its own framework and direction, assuming the character of a public theology and remaining humble and open before God's mystery while featuring its association with minjung in a holistic way.

Download Wilhelm Loehe and North America Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Wilhelm Loehe is one of the most significant nineteenth-century figures for North American church life and mission, whose influence continues into the present. Loehe is unique for joining together aspects of the Christian life often held to be antithetical: worship and mission, orthodoxy and pietism, evangelical proclamation and diakonia, and theological imagination and practical skill in administration. Already in the nineteenth century Loehe contributed a vital principle for advancing ecumenical understanding: the idea of "open questions." When the church confesses core teachings as one, there does not need to be agreement on all secondary matters in order to live together in church fellowship. This book explores Loehe's historical activity as a pastor, as a supporter of mission in North America, as an organizer (together with Friedrich Bauer) of theological education in North America, and as a founder of deaconess institutions in Neuendettelsau, Germany, that still exist today. The central themes represented by Loehe not only constitute a matrix that has significance for the church and its mission today but also constitute an agenda for the church of the future.
