The Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) is a space research project being developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory under contract with NASA. The mission is scheduled to launch in 2009. The purpose of the mission is to determine the positions and distances of stars more accurately than any previous program. The project will also search for undiscovered planets. SIM will use optical interferometry. Information about the flight system is available.
