We present results from searches for top quark production in p[bar p] collisions at the Tevatron collider based on an integrated luminosity of 7.5 pb[sup [minus]1] obtained during the 1992--1993 ran. The present results are confined to decay modes where both the top and anti-top quarks in the event decay semi-leptonically to the ee and e[mu] channels. A lower limit of 103 (99) GeV/c[sup 2] is obtained at 95% confidence level for the top quark mass from the absence of events consistent with standard model top quark decays with background subtraction (no background subtraction). We do however observe one event in the e[mu] channel which cannot be explained by the known backgrounds. While we make no claim that this event is due to top quark decay, it is not inconsistent with a top quark mass in the range 130--170 GeV/c[sup 2].

The authors present preliminary results on the search for the top quark in p[bar p] collisions at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV by the D0 collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 13.5 pb[sup [minus]1] of data collected by the D0 detector during the 1992-3 Tevatron collider run. They have searched for Standard Model t[bar t] decays into the dilepton decay modes ee + X, e[mu] + X and [mu][mu] + X. No significant signal is observed for top quark production in these channels. They find one candidate event in the e[mu] + X channel and no events in the other two channels with an estimated non-top background of 0.76 [+-] 0.16 events.

We report on the search for the top quark in p[bar p] collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron ([radical]s= 1.8 TeV) in the di-lepton and lepton+jets channels using multivariate methods. An H-matrix analysis of the e[mu] data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 13.5[plus-minus]1.6 pb[sup[minus]1] yields one event whose likelihood to be a top quark event, assuming m[sub top]= 180 GeV/c[sup 2], is ten times more than that of WW and eighteen times more than that of Z[yields][tau][tau]. A neural network analysis of the e+jets channel using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 47.9[plus-minus]5.7 pb[sup[minus]1] shows an excess of events in the signal region and yields a cross-section for t[bar t] production of 6.7[plus-minus]2.3 (stat.) pb, assuming a top mass of 200 GeV/c[sup 2]. An analysis of the e+jets data using the probability density estimation method yields a cross-section that is consistent with the above result.

We report preliminary results of a search for the top quark by the D{O} collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} collider using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 7.5 pb−1. Events with a high p{sub T} isolated electron and large missing E{sub T} which are candidates for containing W bosons were studied. Only one vent was found having an additional isolated lepton. Combining the ee and e[mu] channels we set a lower limit of 99 GeV/c2 for the top quark mass.

Preliminary new results on the top quark search with the DO experiment in [bar p]p collisions at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV for an integrated luminosity of 15.2 [plus-minus] 1.8 pb[sup [minus]1] are reported. In this new analysis, which is optimized for high mass top search, a total of seven candidate events in the electron and muon dilepton decay channels (t[bar t] [yields] e[mu], ee and [mu][mu]), single lepton decay channels (t[bar t] [yields] e + jets and t[bar t] [yields] [mu] + jets) without b tagging and single electron decay channel (t[bar t] [yields] e + jets) with b tagging have been observed. The estimated background is 4.7 [plus-minus] 1.0 events. If we assume the top quark has a mass of 180 GeV/c[sup 2], a t[bar t] production cross section of 3.2 [plus-minus] 3.9 pb with upper limit of 13 pb at 95% C.L. is obtained.

Data collected by the D0 detector at a p{bar p} center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider have been used to search for pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark decaying into bl{bar {nu}}. The search is performed in the ll′ = e? and?? final states. No evidence for this process has been found in data samples of approximately 400 pb−1. The domain in the [M({bar t}1), M({bar {nu}})] plane excluded at the 95% C.L. is substantially extended by this search.
