We report results of a search for CPT and Lorentz violation in B°-{bar B}° oscillations using inclusive dilepton events from 232 million [Upsilon](4S) → B{bar B} decays recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory at SLAC. We find 2.8[sigma] significance, compatible with no signal, for variations in the complex CPT violation parameter z at the Earth's sidereal frequency and extract values for the quantities [Delta]a{sub {mu}} in the general Lorentz-violating standard-model extension. The spectral powers for variations in z over the frequency range 0.26 year−1 to 2.1 day−1 are also compatible with no signal.

We report preliminary results of a search for CPT and Lorentz violation in B{sup 0}-{bar B}{sup 0} oscillations using an inclusive dilepton sample collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B Factory. Using a sample of 232 million B{bar B} pairs, we search for time-dependent variations in the complex CPT parameter z = z{sub 0} +z{sub 1} cos ({Omega}{cflx t} + {phi}) where {Omega} is the Earth's sidereal frequency and {cflx t} is sidereal time. We measure Imz{sub 0} = ( -14.1 {+-} 7.3(stat.) {+-} 2.4(syst.)) x 10{sup -3}, {Delta}{Lambda} x Rez{sub 0} = ( -7.2 {+-} 4.1(stat.) {+-} 2.1(syst.)) x 10{sup -3} ps{sup -1}, Im z{sub 1} = ( -24.0 {+-} 10.7(stat.) {+-} 5.9(syst.)) x 10{sup -3}, and {Delta}{Lambda} x Re z{sub 1} = ( -18.8 {+-} 5.5(stat.) {+-} 4.0(syst.)) x 10{sup -3} ps{sup -1}, where {Delta}{Lambda} is the difference between the decay rates of the neutral B mass eigenstates. The statistical correlation between the measurements of Imz{sub 0} and {Delta}{Lambda} x Rez{sub 0} is 76%; between Imz{sub 1} and {Delta}{Lambda} x Rez{sub 1} it is 79%. These results are used to evaluate expressions involving coefficients for Lorentz and CPT violation in the general Lorentz-violating standard-model extension. In a complementary approach, we examine the spectral power of periodic variations in z over a wide range of frequencies and find no significant signal.

The authors report the results of a search for T and CP violation in B[sup 0]-[bar B][sup 0] mixing using an inclusive dilepton sample collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B Factory. The asymmetry between[ell][sup+][ell][sup+] and[ell][sup -][ell][sup -] events allows the authors to compare the probabilities for[bar B][sup 0][yields] B[sup 0] and B[sup 0][yields][bar B][sup 0] oscillations and thus probe T and CP invariance. Using a sample of 23 million B[bar B] pairs, they measure a same-sign dilepton asymmetry of A[sub T/CP]= (0.5[+-] 1.2(stat)[+-] 1.4(syst))%. For the modulus of the ratio of complex mixing parameters p and q, they obtainq/p= 0.998[+-] 0.006(stat)[+-] 0.007(syst).

The BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC collected a sample of 23 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] pairs in the years 1999 and 2000. Using this data sample, we measure the amplitude of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in neutral B decays to the CP eigenstates J/[psi] K[sub S][sup 0], [psi](2S) K[sub S][sup 0] and J/[psi] K[sub L][sup 0]. We find a value of sin2[beta]= 0.34[+-] 0.20(stat)[+-] 0.05(syst). We also present preliminary measurements of the B[sup 0][bar B][sup 0] oscillation frequency and of the lifetimes of charged and neutral B mesons.

During the first year of data taking, the 1999-2000 run, the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric collider has collected an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb[sup -1] corresponding to 22.7 million B[bar B] pairs at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance. Using this data, we present the measurement of sin2[beta] based on samples of B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K[sub S][sup 0], B[sup 0][yields][psi](2S) K[sub S][sup 0] and B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K[sub L][sup 0] L decays. Our measured value is sin2[beta]= 0.34[+-] 0.20 (stat)[+-] 0.05 (syst). In addition we report on the measurement of branching fractions for exclusive B decays to charmonium final states, measurements of charged and neutral B meson lifetimes and also the B[sup 0][bar B][sup 0] oscillation frequency.

Results of recent searches for new physics in CP violation in charm decays from the BABAR experiment are presented. These results include a measurement of D0 - anti D0 mixing and searches for CP violation in two-body D0 decays, a search for CP violation in the charm decays D" 2!KS0K " and D s" 2!KS0K", KS0[pi]", and a search for direct CP violation in the singly-Cabibbo suppressed D" 2!K+K-[pi]"decays. These studies are based on the fi nal dataset collected by BABAR at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC in the period 1999-2008. No evidence of CP violation is found in these charm decays. The measured mixing parameter yCP = [0.72 " 0.18(stat) " 0.12(syst)]% excludes the no-mixing null hypothesis with a signifi cance of 3.3[sigma].

Tests of CPT and T symmetries and a limit on the difference between the decay rates of the two mass eigenstates in B{sup 0}-mesons oscillations are reported. The reconstructed B decays, comprising both CP and flavor eigenstates, are obtained from {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. Sensitivity projections for sidereal time modulation of the CPT-violating parameter based on an explicit and general CPT-breaking standard model extension are also discussed.

This dissertation describes two different projects from two different experiments. We have performed a search for CPT violation in neutral charm meson oscillations using data from the FOCUS Experiment. While flavor mixing in the charm sector is predicted to be small in the Standard Model, it is still possible to investigate CPT violation through a study of the proper time dependence of a CPT asymmetry in right-sign decay rates for D0 → K- ?+ and $ar{D}$0 → K+?-. This asymmetry is related to the CPT violating complex parameter ? and the mixing parameters x and y: ACPT ∞ Re?y - Im?x. We determine a 95% confidence level limit of -0.0068 Re?y - Im?x 0.0234. Within the framework of the Standard Model Extension incorporating general CPT violation, we also find 95% confidence level limits for the expressions involving coefficients of Lorentz violation of (-2.8 N(x,y,?))(?asub0/sub + 0.6 ?asubZ/sub 4.8) x 10sup-16/sup GeV, (-7.0 N(x,y,?)?asubx/sub 3.8) x 10
