From her ranch home in Montana in the 1920s, Nettie Brady dreamed of joining the rodeo circuit and becoming a star. Defying her mother's wishes and trading her skirts for trousers--and riding the range with her brothers and taking on the occasional half-ton steer in local rodeos--Nettie bucked convention to compete with men in the arena. When family hardship and tragedy threaten her plans, she turns back toward a more traditional life as a ranch woman, but chafes against its restrictions. Then she meets and falls in love with a young neighbor who rides broncs and raises rodeo stock. Can Nettie's rodeo dreams come true if she's also a wife and mother? Based on the life of the author's grandmother, a real Montana cowgirl, this novel takes on the big issues of a woman's place in the west, the crushing difficulties of surviving on a homestead, and the excitement and romance of a young girl aching to follow her dream.

All little May ever wanted to be was a cowboy, for as long as she can remember. At the movies each Saturday, she studies how to be a cowboy, how to push her hat back and squint in the sun, or ambush something on her bike. All she needs is a horse, but her parents won’t even let her have a dog. So May builds her own horse from a blanket and a piece of clothesline on the basement banister. On her banister horse, she dreams of the world of cowboys, the open trail, and her favorite cowboy songs.

But now Ryder Beckett has come back until he can find a new job. He’s quick to fall into old ways – taking care of the horses, trying a few of his old rodeo tricks and falling for Tatum Mayweather. Ryder’s childhood friend has become a beautiful woman. But how can he get involved with the single mother when he’s only at the ranch temporarily? Is the pull of family enough to make him stay? Is this where Ryder truly belongs? No Ordinary Cowboy – Mary Sullivan She’d rather be anywhere than here in Ordinary, Montana. Tackling the books for a failing ranch as a favour to a friend is not city girl Amy Graves’s scene. And every time Hank Shelter stonewalls her search for the truth, she wants to be gone yesterday. Still, something about the Sheltering Arms calls to her. Maybe it’s the open spaces. Or maybe it’s Hank, who is proving too good, too kind to be real. But to put the ranch to rights Amy needs to know what he’s hiding. Even if it destroys the sweet thing developing between them.

Chris LeDoux was a rodeo icon, known for his ability to ride bareback horses and a world championship. But Chris also had a talent with a guitar and an ability to put the life and thoughts of a rodeo cowboy into song. With the help of his family Chris started selling audio-cassettes out of his rigging bag at rodeos, just as a way to help pay his way down the road. Little did he or anyone else know that after he hung up his bareback rigging and stowed the rigging bag, that he would become a country music sensation, "Gold Buckle Dreams: The Life and Times of Chris LeDoux" tells not only of Chris's life growing up and on into rodeo, but is has been expanded to include his life after rodeo. Although Chris LeDoux and his music had a big following in rodeo, it was not until Garth Brooks mentioned LeDoux in a song, that the rest of the world discovered the man. When his career ended in rodeo, LeDoux found a second round of fame in the music world, where he gained an international following. Unfortunately his life ended prematurely, the legend and music of Chris LeDoux live on.
