Report On A Survey For Archaeological Sites In The Foster Dam Reservoir Linn County Oregon PDF Download

On February 23, 24, 25, 1965 David L. Cole, Curator of Anthropology and Harvey S. Rice, Research Assistant, Museum of Natural History, University of Oregon traveled, throughout the state investigating reservoir areas of proposed damns at Sucker Creek, Applegate River, Elk Creek, Lost Creek, and Willow Creek. Also a village site at Collier State Park was investigated. The investigations in the reservoir areas were undertaken because the National Park Service had requested cost estimates for archaeologic salvage work. This was a preliminary survey to look over the areas and decide what further work should be done. Because of time and expense limitations no attempts were made to locate all of the sites but merely determine whether sites did exist. In this report each site will be treated individually with area locations, findings, and recommendations for further work.
